IMO this is a bigger loss to the Doggies than either of our ex stars. He's their inspirational skipper!! Crikey!!

And the compensation will be greater - two top 10 picks in an uncompromised draft compared to a pick in the mid 20's and and pick 12 in a comprmised draft!! DOn't think it's a move the Doggies would have initiated but I think they'll be better for it in the medium term!

So the bulldogs could end up with picks 4, 6, 7 26 and 27 plus whatever they get for Jones and Tutt. throw them pick 1 for 4, 6, and their highest second round pick.

Maybe if it was Roo, and not Goddard, who walked out. This is a massive loss for them, far more than BJ for us.....

Carl pick 7 to gws for jaksche
Our pick 1 and 22 to gws for 4, 7, 19
Gws pick 1 and 22 to doggies for griffin

Works for me

Huge. Worst case scenario we get pick 1 not that big of a deal.

Pelchen would have just gone F***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doggies can now get from GWS their top 4 pick...or one of GWS's big orward.

Griffen will take at least 2 top 20 picks...

GWS in getting Griffen have their Petracca type...so their intertrest in him will not as great.

Yep - Worst case scenario is we just use pick 1.
I do agree that 1 or two players is just not going to really get us anywhere - even if the one player is a gun. So i was quite happy with jaxons deal of gaining multiple high picks.
Back to the drawing board!

Griffen going will be good long term for the Dogs. Will gain 2 or 3 good picks (or possibly picks plus Boyd..).

Whereas we got only one pick in the teens for BJ.

Trouble with this news if our strategy was as Jaxsons has indicated to go for multiple draft picks is that we have been blind-sided and may have missed out on some players that we would otherwise gone harder on.

Last year we had an out-perform in terms of rebuilding our list.

This season it may get back to just how well we use our picks.

Are we perhaps overrating Griffen here? 28 year old who has had some injury problems. Yes, very good player, but is he worth a pick and Boyd? I would have thought a high pick would do it...not both.

Sure this threw a spanner in the works though!

Griffen would have been pushed no doubt its pretty obvious. Im sure that the blokes that need to know like Pelchen would have known Griffen was moving a week or two ago at least.

Now there's a shock. Did you honesty think a deal for the first draft pick would be done a week out from deadline? Seriously? I'll give you a tip. If you have to choose between being first and being accurate, be accurate. Maybe wait till it's set in stone before announcing things and getting people's hopes up.

Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

He's 28 the WB are desperate for McCartin or White they have been rumored to be looking at ways to get hold of 2 or 3. Griffen was the obvious out.
