What Is Going On?

Post: # 1508501Post damienc »

Ok. What is going on with our football club?

Trade week has turned into a bunfight extraordinaire.

Big names, small names, captains, coaches going here, going there, going to who knows where. But.... notably nothing remotely involving the St Kilda football club.

Yes we get Tim Membrey but Jaksche is going to Carlton and O'Rourke is already at Hawthorn. Neither of them really wanted to come to St Kilda.

We seem to have gone cold on Hunt ( no great loss in my view). O'Shea might be part of deal involving another club which means he doesn't come to us.

I keep hearing pick 1 is on the table. You know what? The sky is falling as well. I don't buy any of it. As time goes on the more my water tells me we are holding on to pick 1.

I reckon we have a major hard on for Christian Petracca. No surprise. He is exactly what we need in every way.

But what I can't seem to get clear in my mind is how we get another pick in the top 20 and still keep pick 1. it has to be a player trade. We have nothing else to offer. But who ?

What goes on every trade week.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

I think most would expect Armo and Steven to be our only players with top 10 to 12 trade potential. Other than that Joey, Rhys, Farren, Gears and Hickey would be next. The next tier down aren't good enough or so young they are untouchables.

still plenty of time, on Monday the Bulldogs had a captain and coach, Hird was sacked and North Melbourne were 'winners' from player movement. Things can change quick.

Someone once said, "it's best to keep your heads while all those around are losing theirs". Sage, dat.

I reckon we're going OK. And, as someone mentioned earlier, this is week one. Remember Kiwi?

Interesting the club posted trade update day 1 and 2 but then nothing after that.
Reckon we are still active but other deals have taken priority...plenty of time left

I'm loving that here a re a lot of other clubs losing players and coaches, having awkward press conferences and the Saints are nowhere to be seen.

Please keep it that way.

I am still hurting from 71;
my gut churns thinking of 97;
2009 was agony,
2010a was a pleasure to watch only to be devastated by 2010 b.
It hurts barracking for the Saints

The Saints are a bit slow off the mark so far and I'm sure a big clanger is not too far away :-)

I'm liking this. To me the Saints seem assured. They have not blinked. They announced a preference for multiple picks in the Top 20 but have not received the right offer, no dramas, keep pick 1 & move forward, plenty more chances in the next 2 or 3 years.
