The AFL were "very keen" that there be no leakage from the Club on our No.1 selection.

We need all the help that we can get from the AFL at the moment, so I can't see why they would sanction any "informal" leak from the Club.

I'm not pissed any more. We are going to get a decent player regardless and there is a chance we win from this still. It Petracca doesn't come on as well as we all think and Paddy is motivated to prove everyone wrong who knows. Lets just hope 21 and 22 are Cockatoo/ Weller and Goddard/ Mc Kenzie. Then I will be happy. Lonie at 41, Saad and Caleb Daniel in the Rookie draft. A forward, a back, a midfielder and a few small forward options.

I was very surprised that the psych testing results for Petracca got mentioned in one of the newspapers on Wednesday. That, to me, is something that should have stayed confidential. But those tests are a big deal and so they should be. You don't want your number one pick perhaps leaving for another club in a couple of years, or struggling to adapt to team rules or to take direction from the coach. The club may have been leaning more to Petracca like most of the supporters and commentators initially were, but those test results probably had some impact on the decision. Our club leaders are too decent to ever raise that as a reason for preferring McCartin. I don't know if it did make the difference but I think they needed to let us supporters know that KP was not going to be number one and to perhaps also subtly flag the news to KP so he wasn't too disappointed on the night. For what its worth I'm very happy we chose Paddy.
