Macquarie Dictionary Word of the Year for 2023 "Kosi Lives"
Went by and had a look today and thought I'd give you some observations.
Markworth: He Trained and he moves really well, got great size and will make the grade I believe if he stays healthy.
McKenzie: Looks the goods, again good size about him moves well and has great closing speed.
Riewoldt: Doing 80 meter sprints along the boundary and looks fit. Man's a machine.
Pierce: Moves really well for his size it will be really interesting to see what happens this year in the Rucks, Hickey number 1 for sure, the relief ruckmen is up for grabs and I'd say he would be leading at this stage.
Acers : Needs to get out of first gear and I have a feeling the coaches know it, they're always trying to get him going.
Goddard: Can't see why not for round 1 has good size already moves beautifully for guy his height.
Membery: Midfielders height, but awesome skills so he could turn himself into a midfielder.
Thanx 4 the post Hallalj.
Markworth looking like he might be a contender in 2015. He is like the forgotten man to me. Would be great to see him clock up a few appearances and feel a bit closer to the big time.
Some of the You.tube coverage of McKenzie looked impressive - he looked switched on and good with his marking as well as speed. I remember he rose up the draft prediction ranks quickly just before draft day and was rated as just a few picks outside the teens by some.
Goddard impressed me early as well - he looks like a serious defender (which we certainly need).
Membery has certainly impressed others as yourself so i'm hoping you are all good judges !
Also good to hear Pierce is a good mover and will keep pushing himself forward.
GO SAINTS!
Lee said he hasn't seen Membery miss a shot on goal yet. With Lee and Saad along side it's been a long time since we had accurate goal kickers in proliferation.

That is bloody brilliant! Love it sting nothing wrong with getting fired up every now and again.

didnt have a huge mumma and threaten my membership with the microwave tho
we'll see how we go without him i guess
christ we've lost better players than that over the years so im sure we will be fine
I said when Stanley went that I was disappointed in the deal.
Fortunately the Blues "did a Carlton" (ALL the Blues fans I know are still in dis-belief) and used their pick before us on a players that would have in all likelihood have been there with their next pick, which allowed Goddard to slip to us. That eased my angst, and indeed it is now probably a reasonable deal for us. Without that unexpected selection by the Blues though, I suspect that I would still not be happy.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....
good call
yeah i lose the plot for a day or two and then its mehhh, he has gone move on nothing can do about it i guess
people in charge down at the club know more than i do so you back them in when they trade someone out

i softened a bit when hugh goddard slipped through to the pick we gor for rhys ....more dumb luck than clever planning.....still think it was a mistake if you were going on rhys performance in our best win last year....anyway ..im hoping..no betting...on hugh becoming a star...
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will

Do you remember the look on the trout's face when our pick 21 came up and Goddard was still there? He nearly tripped on his own tongue. Couldn't wait to spit it out. Same with Dodoro at Essendon when Laverde was still there. Thank you Carlscum. Your wooden spoon awaits.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!
Word I received was that when Hugh trained down at Geelong as part of the scholarship thingy in the under 18s and did drills vs senior players, the players told the coaching staff to make sure they recruited him. Would I be fair to think the players who compete with a youngster in 1 on 1 battles or in packs would know more than recruiters? By the way ... I think he will be a gun and future captain after Jack Newnes.
AwayInUSA no longer ... have based myself back in Melbourne for a decade of Saintsational Success (with regular trips back to the USA)
With McCartin locked in, Goddard was a great selection for extra backline stability. Essendon, before us, went for a mid/forward in Laverde and before them, Carlton went for a mid in Boekhorst.
It looks like we will use our "low picks" next year, for some quality Mids. The recruiting plan looks to be working well to me.
Also a bit sorry to see Stanley go, but with Tim Membrey now on board from the Swans, I am a lot happier.
Keep the Training Notes coming in guys. They are well worth a read at this time of year.
