Metro Train services on Sunday
www.metrotrains.com.au
Alamein, Belgrave, Lilydale and Glen Waverley lines. Major works on each line and the word bus pops up a lot.
Go to website for each line, but be warned it isn't going to be easy trying to get into Etihad Stadium on Sunday, plus it won't help our crowd numbers.
Mods-can we let this sit at the top of the threads until Sunday please, otherwise it will quickly drop off the front page?

I'm on Belgrave/Lilydale lines. There's buses replacing trains between Camberwell and Parliament. I hope they've factored in that there's a game starting at 1.10 and are not expecting the usual Sunday patronage.
Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.

They know we're playing GWS so there will be less trains than a normal Sunday.remboy wrote:I'm on Belgrave/Lilydale lines. There's buses replacing trains between Camberwell and Parliament. Does anyone catch a tram to or from the game? I used to drive to Southgate ( free parking for me) and catch the train but if trams are free it might be a better option.

At least 50% of patrons would use trains!kosifantutti wrote:They know we're playing GWS so there will be less trains than a normal Sunday.remboy wrote:I'm on Belgrave/Lilydale lines. Trams are only free within the Hotham grid.
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

If I drive to Southgate I reckon I'll be pretty close to that Hotham grid. I was just wondering how difficult it would be to get on a tram after the game in particular.

Re: Metro Train services on Sunday
The free zone is silly. It has Docklands and Vic Market but nothing South of the Yarra.
The other week we parked in the gardens opposite the Arts Centre due to traffic not moving and caught a tram from the Arts Centre that wasn't free (be forked if I'd pay for it though).
Same applies if you park at say the Casino and use that stop Togo up Spenna St. towards the stadium.
I thought it was designed to make life easier for those who drive in?
A sensible approach would be to extend the zone to one stop South of the Yarra, and indeed all adjacent stops from the grid.

Re: Metro Train services on Sunday
Final reminder. From what I've wirked out, everyone gets out at Darling station and are being bussed to Cauflield. Might be quicker just to drive to Caulfield.
