I've seen photos of him at Melbourne training yesterday, so I guess we may see him at a few more clubs doing publicity shots.

Hulk Hogan - probably the most famous pro wrestler of the last 30 years.
Also appeared in Rocky 3 (as 'Thunderlips).

Famous (as a wrestler) for is huge biceps (nicknamed pythons)

His 'followers' are known as 'Hulkamaniacs'

Thanks MM.................. no wonder I haven't heard of him. I don't watch wrestling, nor have I seen any of those Rocky films.

His biceps look somewhat ordinary in that photo, or what one can see of them - then again I s'pose he his way past his prime nowadays.

I used to work with a professional wrestler in the mid 1960's............. his name was Cruel Crusher Webb. I think it was Channel 7 that used to show the wrestling shows he was in them there days, some American fellow with glasses used to anchor the show.

When Cruel Crusher wasn't working in his day job (as a detective) or wrestling on telly, or running marathons, he was also a stuntman. He'd do anything for a quid, would Crusher, infact, he had to leave the police force very quickly when the Vice Squad came across a porn video he starred in

Actually Crusher and Allan Jeans used to spar most lunch-time in the Police Gym at Russell St Headquarters.

Crusher lost weight and was the stunt person for Mick Jagger in the film about Ned Kelly........ Crusher was hanged in a shoot in the Old Melbourne Goal instead of Jagger. After the shoot Ken (Crusher) bought Mick & Marianne Faithfull into the office to meet us. I have a photo of me and Mick............... he was a tiny, skinny pasty faced fellow. I'm 5ft tall and I think Mick was only about 3-4inches taller than me. Bit of a let down as I was a bit of a Stones fan at that stage. That evening Ms Faithfull ended up in hospital with a drug overdose.

So the Cruel Crusher Webb was the only wrestler I have come across

Crusher Webb must be getting on a bit now. He was a Detective at Carlton when I was a young Constable (20/21 years of age ) at Fitzroy. I am nearly 75 now. He must be near 90 Loris.

The best thing about wrestlers is their names.

Cruel Crusher Webb ... and there's better than that, I know.

He died about 10 years ago bb....... he was living in Queensland at the time....... I think he was born around 1928/9....... so yes he would have been not far off 90.

His days in Carlton were legendary. It used to be a bit embarrassing walking down Lygon Street with him....all the Italian shop keepers would come out, showering him with gifts   He was taken off the streets as a Senior Det (don't know why) and put in our office. He was a real scallywag & sailed close to the wind on everything he did, but he was such a likeable rascal and by all accounts kept the Italian mafia well under control until all the Vic market murders started.

The Saints guernsey really suits the Hulk. A shame he is getting swayed by other clubs. We could use him alongside our other celeb supporters. We could have two Hulks: Bana and Hulk Hogan.

Someone mentioned his acting performance in Rocky III. He later on starred in a big Hollywood production called Suburban Commando, along with Shelley Duvall and Christopher Lloyd. I was never game enough to see it though.
