Re: Markworth gawn
Disappointing.
Thought if Minchy, Pierce, Payne etc were receiving 1 year deals, Marky would get an extension aswell..
Good luck to him, hopefully we re-draft him in the rookie draft.

From the article,
"Markworth has been told he won’t be on the senior list next season but could be rookie-listed, depending on what happens in the trade period."

Yes it is disappointing however simple maths dictates that a certain amount of players need to be cleared out each year.
And with each new contract extension being announced, the "pool" of possible delistees becomes shallower.
With that in mind, it was almost certain that Daniel would be one of those to face the chop.
I wish him well for 2016 (wherever he lands) and beyond.

Re: Markworth gawn
I hope we can find a rookie spot for him; so much time and effort has been invested in him and he has had such an appalling injury run. It would nice to see what he can do after a consistent pre-season. Anyway, we shall see, I guess.
Always loyal
Re: Markworth gawn
Offers a lot more than Shenton IMO. If there's no currency for him during the DFA period then we should rookie him

ST KILDA forward Daniel Markworth will look for a new AFL home after losing his place on the club’s senior list.
The Saints have lost patience with the speedy forward after four-injury ravaged seasons.
The 189cm marking target was one of the most exciting and raw talents in the 2011 national draft (taken pick No. 35) but failed to play a senior game for St Kilda.
The Saints also took Sebastian Ross (No. 25), Jack Newnes (No. 37), Jimmy Webster (No. 42), Jay Lever (No. 60) and Beau Maister (No. 68) in that year’s draft.
Markworth has been told he won’t be on the senior list next season but could be rookie-listed, depending on what happens in the trade period.
He is out of contract and looking for an opportunity elsewhere.
The 23-year-old battled serious hamstring and shoulder problems and suffered a knee reconstruction at the end of 2012.
Markworth tore his anterior cruciate ligament on an altitude camp in Colorado.
He has finished the season with Sandringham in the VFL, kicking seven goals from nine games this year, and will target a full preseason.
St Kilda football manager Jamie Cox said in March Markworth was “a talented footballer” after dislocating his shoulder at training in March.
“Daniel is a talented footballer with enormous character who has had a wretched run with injuries and deserves a bit of luck,” Cox said.
“Frustratingly each of his injuries have been isolated incidents and not related to each other.”

Re: Markworth gawn
A quick 189 cm forward with a nice kick are players you want to see make it.
We have taken a punt he wont get picked up & will rookie list him.
At 23 never to have played a senior game you are always in a bit of trouble.
Siposs is another that frustrates me as his kicking can be amazing yet he also looks under the pump.
You look at Curran & Saunders who have worked their butts off to make it yet don't seem to have the same ability & you can see how frustrating list management can be at times.

No real loss there with that lot going, if true.Gershwin wrote:And Siposs, White and Simpkin according to Siposs' father.
Disappointing they couldn't cut it at AFL level. .
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
Re: Markworth gawn
i'd like markworth as a rookie for one last year to see if he can get on the park. if not then goodbye and good luck.

I hope Sippa signs on with Sandy for next year and then the Saints VFL side the following year. Real quality at VFL level

Re: Markworth gawn
Markworth is a "189cm marking target"? Really? I haven't seen him that much but didn't think overhead marking was really his strength.

He has a contract and is still playing so I would hope so. Anyway spoke to a Saints person on Saturday and he tole me they are waiting till Sandy finish before telling anyone. He is either wrong or they changed their mind.
