Good squad. Will be interesting to see how we go against our "rebuilding" rival. No Longer again which is interesting. I wonder if they will look at elevating Holmes with our vacant list spot in case Longer isn't right for the start of the season. Being cautious with Paddy which is good. Gresham in the squad means he would be in consideration for R1. Good to see Wright back - hopefully he can show a bit this year - and stay uninjured Nath!

Sinclair didn't make the squad which is surprising!

Also no Hugh Goddard

Who everyone seems to have pencilled in as a best XVIII player

On the injury report they said that Hugh is a couple of weeks behind the rest of the squad probably due to the dehydration issue after NAB1

It's not going to the best 22 in the squad. Sinclair played the intra club and North game so maybe they feel he got enough game time. Barring injury he would almost certainly be penciled in for Rd 1. Guys like Wright, Lee, Gresham, Curren, Holmes and Membrey need to keep having the rule run over them.

It'd be close to the R1 team, but Yes some would need the run...

Wright for sure

But Eli is a surprise, he's played all games and got a gig ahead of Jack... Perhaps a midfield run for Jack Saturday at Sandy?

he had that over night hospital stay during the training camp in December - surely he is over that now?

Let's hope Tom Lee grabs the key defensive post he's been coveting. This is his last roll of the dice.

A lot of kids struggle the second year as the club ramps up training. I think Paddy said first year is about a 35% load and then second year it's about 75%. The young guys are often so tired from the second year they struggle to back up. I reckon Hugh is a year away but should play 10 to 15 games on 2016. Eli and Jack Sinclair are probably both too similar to run both, Eli looks better this year Sincs was disappointing against North.

Who is 'everyone'?

I think everyone has him best XVIII for 2018 but not necessarily for 2016. Still learning the caper.

Goddard is a work in progress. I reckon he's going to take at least 4 years to get the tank and leg strength to lug that huge frame around as they keep packing on muscle. He'll probably be in and out a bit this year depending on match ups and conditioning. The big guys take time and that applies to defenders as well.

It's good to see Membrey, Lee, Holmes & Gresham in particular, getting what will be a high intensity game, to show their wares.

Holmes will be playing for a Rookie Upgrade spot.

Let's hope that they all play well.

Why would they be playing for Frankston ?

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Longer has been injured and Rice has been ill.

Both have missed a lot of the pre-season so I'm guessing they're being eased into their first games for the year.

Yes it looks like he did, so that will probably be the end of him unless injuries crop up. I think we needed to see him have one more hit out but the powers that be obviously don't think so.

Fisher on Hogan will be interesting.... I would not be surprised to see Hogan kick a bag and Lee tried out on him.

What do people think about Rd 1 v Port with Charlie Dixon? Should we play Delaney?

And Delaney is a long way off according to BigMart on another thread.

This is a bit left-field but Roberton is 194. He could run-off Hogan and exploit him the other way. I know Roberton hasn't really played key defense but something to consider. He's got good closing speed - might struggle one-on-one but should get cover from the likes of fish, demps and geary.

Didn't I read somewhere that Roberton has built himself up to be able to play against the monsters?
