Has a small crack appeared?
That is, has the next premiership window just been opened a wee bit and some air of optimism coming in?
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Re: Has a small crack appeared?
We now need to add some outside footspeed
Waiting in the wings - McKenzie has it - Freeman as well
But some more would compliment our in and under players
It goes without saying that these speed merchants have to bring skill to the table as well
Any chance of cloning Winmar? (the 80s & 90s version)

Re: Has a small crack appeared?
Id do anything to see reiwoldt win a flag in 2018. It is possible. Imo we will be in that position IF
A: mackenzie/gresham freeman carlisle and goddard get to what they should be
B: team continues as it is with chemistry and gameplan and pressure etc.
C: good run with injuries.
The dream is still alive. Reiwoldt could still hold that cup up. No doubt.

The club on and off field is doing so much right IMO. Stability, excellent match day coaching and game plan, so much upside with a developing list = inceasingly thinking its going to come together sooner than most may think. Not tolerating mediocrity but also remaining patient is the key to success.

Ha considering at the end of 2013 we possibly had he worst list, no coach, no direction .. Amazing turnaround id argue the biggest turn around in afl history. We were screwed do you remember???
2013, 2014 drafts were so good.

A sniff of maybe playing finals in 2017. Finals in 2018 looks fairly likely now

Re: Has a small crack appeared?
Really impressed with some of our ball movement. I was at the game and I was like - wow - how did we do that? We actually strung 6-10 passes together on quite a few occasions which we haven't done a lot of in recent years. The tackling was A grade as well. We only really lost because of a handful of very weird turnovers where we gave it straight to them for no reason (the sun did create some glare) and the umps in the last. But overall we played some high quality footy.

Re: Has a small crack appeared?
I think we can go 3-3 BUT to make the finals this year we really need to win the next two weeks and, the way GWS played on the weekend, and with a possible let down for us from the weekend, I just hope we don't get blown away.saintspremiers wrote:A sniff of maybe playing finals in 2017. As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

We lost remember so a let down shouldn't be a problemJacks Back wrote:I think we can go 3-3 BUT to make the finals this year we really need to win the next two weeks and, the way GWS played on the weekend, and with a possible let down for us from the weekend, I just hope we don't get blown away.saintspremiers wrote:A sniff of maybe playing finals in 2017. Re: Has a small crack appeared?
I reckon were just about at 2003.
We got a sniff in 2004 (possible in 2017 if Roo, joey etc are still playing good footy).
Then took us a further 5 years to become a genuine flag chance.
I wouldn't be cancelling September holiday plans just yet, but what we've seen in the last 2 weeks has been bloody great to watch!!

Re: Has a small crack appeared?
Just need to get wins this season- competitive efforts are encouraging in losses, but it needs to equate to wins, as the indicator will be getting more wins than last season and climbing a few rungs on the ladder, not being static two seasons in a row.
So in other words, we need to have a crack next game to keep the crack alive

Until the next game we play like the Bulldogs game, at which point the haters will reappear and declare themselves correct. We are still a ways off being a serious contender but in my opinion the signs are very positive.

Re: Has a small crack appeared?
The Giants and Melbourne in coming weeks will provide us with a real insight as to where we currently stand. I think we can win both and be 3-3.
