Head to Head Record v Carlton
Apart from the Washington Generals v the Harlem Globetrotters is there a worse head to head record in sport than ours against Cartlon.
Even after winning 20 of the last 30 the head to still stands at an embarrassing 52 wins 162 losses 2 draws.
I know the players don't care about things like this but it is another reason we can't lose a cheapy to this mob, we have 100 years of pain to pay back.

Re: Head to Head Record v Carlton
They won, wait for it, 100 out of our first 120 games against each other, and 2 of the games they didn't win were draws!!!!
Before our 1997 GF/Top of the Ladder finish year, we had only beaten them 30 times. We have beaten them 22 times in less than 20 years since.
In our entire history we only ever beat them 8 times at Princes Park in over 100 years.
Before Kenny Sheldon took over as coach in 1990, Carlton had equalled or bettered our highest score against them in games against us 36 times!
And I think the head to head tally is actually 52 wins 162 losses!!
But on the bright side, we haven't lost to a fellow foundation club yet this year, and we have won our last 4 against them at the G so we are in with a real chance.

It's not pretty reading is it!!! How can you only win 18 of 120 games??
You are right too, I entered the wrong loss tally.

Re: Head to Head Record v Carlton
Who cares what happened 100 years ago? Back then money bought premierships , the top clubs raped and pillaged the poorer clubs lists. Since they eventually got done for Salary cap cheating they have been duds when an even playing field via the draft came into place. It's no coincidence the big clubs all got done for salary cap cheating. Essendon even resorted to drug cheating.
The bluebaggers backers are lowlife, tried to wind us up totally so they could take our players over a couple of thousand dollar debt.
It's always irked me that when Lindsay Fox was one of the huge donaters to the blues when we were almost bankrupt, but I guess a multi million dollar CUB delivery contract with "pigs arse" was more attractive than his own team.
May they rot in hell... Rub their noses in it.
Thier supporters only gloat about thier record because the ain't got much to talk about in the last twenty years.

don't forget, it's Carlscum's biggest loss this season.

Fox does a number of things unheralded for the club however he's got so much money you would reckon he could take care of the saints debt and not even feel it .saynta wrote:Fox never did us any favours.supersaints wrote:Who cares what happened 100 years ago? Back in the day of 18 cents in the $1- (I think it was), the largest Creditor and with the voting power to have the Club wound up was ANZ Banking Group - and Fox "lent" on them (and probably other Creditors?) to accept the resolution and allow the Club to continue trading.

Re: Head to Head Record v Carlton
We still haven't lost to a foundation club this season.
Lake Premiership next week.
Fifth largest win ever by us against Blues today. Lot to like.
Good Saints support at the G today too. A lot of red right around the ground, especially in the Ponsford Stand and in the MCC members.

Yep - in 16 years.perfectionist wrote:This century, it is 18 to 8 in our favour.
It took us 70 years to win our first 18 against them. Crazy how bad we must have been.

That is why we need to savour EVERY win over Caaaaarlscum regardless of how weak they are.
Today was fantastic as we always looked in control.
The win earlier in the season was more satisfying as
- they came thinking they were going to win
- lot's of them came to the queues were long
- many didn't get in till after 1/4 time
- it was our home game so it was revenue to us
- then they started leaving at 3/4 time

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Lindsay is a hero...I wonder what a Saints fan did in the 1930s other than the watch the team lose.To the top wrote:Back in the day of 18 cents in the $1- (I think it was), the largest Creditor and with the voting power to have the Club wound up was ANZ Banking Group - and Fox "lent" on them (and probably other Creditors?) to accept the resolution and allow the Club to continue trading.

Re: Head to Head Record v Carlton
I sit next to a rabid Carlton supporter at work here in Beijing.
We used to work together in Frankfurt about 20 years ago.
Back then I started a competition just between us - The Val Perovic Trophy.
It was a twenty Deutschemark note and each time we played each other the result was written on the note and the loser paid the winner 20DM. The winner kept the trophy until it was lost.
Well we haven't seen each other for a long time and he just started here in Beijing a few weeks ago. I dug out the Val and we watched the replay on Sunday online with some TsingTao and cheese and crackers. It was very sweet and he handed me a nice red 100 RMB note with Mao's smiling face on it.
There are about 10 games recorded on the Val and Carlton has only won 2 of them.
Enjoy it, folks. I do.
