Half time Saints 5.8 Tigers 2.4
Never watched a game not being played in a school yard with as many turnovers. We are dominating but kicking has been woeful; Richmond are worse.
Appreciate comments from someone at the ground re wind conditions - if any.

what an odd thing to say.magnifisaint wrote:Holmes is clueless. Why play him. How do you expect an American who hasn't been brought up on the game to play it. Longer would have been so much better.

Are the footballs they are using today out of shape or flat? There must be some reason for the appalling skills by both teams today. And it's not as if many players are under pressure when they stuff it up.

Richo said at quarter time it looked like a broken collarbone. I was impressed he still went back and slotted the goal though!WindSister wrote:how do ya be careful on the footy oval ?The Fireman wrote:I'd say collar bone..seeya next year Paddy.. gonna be a star but has to be a bit more careful..we need him on the grd.
i dig what you're sayn but its in the lap o the gods a bit !
poor bugger.
quarterly scores would be appreciated up here in the wilds.
ta in advance (whoever)
Half time scores us 38, Tigers 17
Poor skills from both sides. Ross doing a good job. Acres getting a bit but disposal has been poor. Holmes holding his own in the ruck, panics when he gets the ball though.

Half time, Saints up by 21 points. Terrible game to watch- some of our more experienced players not taking it seriously enough..stupid turnovers, sloppy disposal. Should be hammering Richmond on the scoreboard, not giving them any kind of sniff. Probably a blast from Richo at half time might wake a few of the boys up. Two goals to Richmond from dumb turnovers from us.

Wind here is a bit flukey, coming in gusts; they're having more trouble with the intermittent rain followed by blinding sunshine.Trev from the Bush wrote:Half time Saints 5.8 Tigers 2.4

I must be watching another game to the one on telly. Yep, he's been caught a couple of times (one too high). But he's been good around the ground - he moves a long way to get to contests; for a for a first game this year I'm not unhappy and I'll be surprised if he's not winning the taps.Kick-it-lace-out wrote:magnifisaint wrote:Holmes is clueless. As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

I'd say that Longer would have been so much better. Holmes doesn't know how to win it.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers @ MCG Round 22 2016
Total lack of leadership and effort by the senior players- a bad sign. Another unimpressive second half coaching effort by Richo- forward line is a rabble, and Steven looks like he's put his cue in the rack for the season. Ross about the only player who is having a real go. Gilbert needs to put on an opposition jumper, then he would have a reason for kicking to them.

JH looks a bit lost... speed must be so much different from VFL to AFL.
average qrt, boys just can't hit a target in the 50... hope we can snag a few early ones in the 4th.

Bloody awful skills on display. Any other team and we'd be getting smashed. The only thing keeping Richmond in it all day has been us.
Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons; for you are a quick and tasty morsel.

That was one of the most uninspiring quarters of the season. Must kick first two goals. Must.
