The Dogs story is miraculous.
Their playing style is infectious.
Their coach is brilliant.
The whole story is inspirational.

But a lot of things went right for them
- the bye rejuvenated them
- west coast were flat
- Hawks had the chance to play them out of the game in the first half
- Stevie J suspension gifted them the prelim along with "missed" umpiring calls
- they got the rub of the green today
--- twice they got good goal square bounces unlike Milne and the end over end goal to Roo that bobbled at the last bounce
--- umps missed marks and frees to Sydney at key moments.

In short they played their hearts out but everything fell into place for them.
The footy gods that despise us smiled on them for the last month.

kaos theory wrote:I am a saints supporter. I passionately support and care 100% only for the saints. I have no other joy or happiness to give for any other team.

So the dogs won, fine, but all I feel is bitterness and emptiness. You can't understand why I'm not happy for them? Well I can't understand how as a saints supporter you could have any happiness watching that.

I was not around for the glory of 66, but I was a around the witness 4 painful GF losses. I cried as a little kid by the radio, as the hawks ran over us in the last qtr in 71. I left in pain half way through last qtr in 97, when we were hot favourites. I saw us blow the golden opportunity in 2009, miss easy shots, not get an obvious free in front of goal late in the game....I watched the agony of getting so close in 2010, then get smashed the following week by the filth......

So the dogs won, with one shot at it from 7th....fine. Now we have 140 years and one flag, and a whole lot of pain. We are alone with that now. Do you think them wining means anything positive for us? Sorry but it means sh1t, it is nothing for us. We have to make our own way up the ladder and win the gf ourselves.....

I don't post often these days, but I just had to get that out.....sorry, carry on.....
You can always see a shrink if you think it will help you cope.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

No doubt our boys will take motivation from the Dogs win - the last 4 times we have played them we have beaten them twice - nail trade week - make the finals next year - and who knows - of course nail free agency next year as well and we are ready to rock and roll

Our time will come shortly and when it does I am absolutely certain we will take it
Taking heart from an opposition team beating another opposition team?

Good for you, perhaps go and support them

Oh that's right, because they won it we can... Could we never have won one unless the dogs showed us the way??

Says a bit about the psyche of our supporters...

I have no idea how the dogs winning has anything to do with us?! I suppose when you're desperate you'll draw inspiration from any unrelated thing you can
BM, can you please let go of this ridiculous straw man argument you have constructed. No one seriously thinks that we are guaranteed a flag because the dogs got one. You know that, but you keep flogging the straw man. You are actually sounding a little unhinged.

Saints fans are taking heart from the fact that you don't have to be a wealthy, big club to win one. Get the ingredients right and, WITH A LOT OF LUCK, you can jag one. It's similar to Leicester winning the EPL: it gave hope to the rest of the comp.

You seem to lack the three vital requirements of being a Saints fan: patience, perspective and a sense of humour.

Whenever I come on here you are, with the benefit of hindsight, complaining about recruitment decisions or impatiently drawing adverse comparisons between our young players and stars of the comp (eg Billings). Now you run this absurd straw man case to make yourself feel like you know more than the rest of us. Hope is all we have as Saints supporters and you seemingly want to snuff that out too.

Take a spell mate. You are doing everyone's head in

Are my complaints not fair enough?

How many flags vs spoons have we won

How many times have we choked

How many times have we made disgraceful decisions

Seriously, those sentiments you stated are those with a loser mentality, justification for failure, acceptance of mediocrity, inferiority complex and self degradation.
I don't happen to like those things!!!!!

We are heading in the right direction

But I am not delusional, I don't live in a fairy land, and I don't swallow crap and believe it's dessert!
I tend to see it how it is... And for what it is...

Not how I want it to be...

That's what riles people up, and if being real hurts people's little dreams... So be it...

On hindsight
I cause so much angst for giving opinions to early and making calls without giving things time
Lovett, leaving Tasmania, Howard, Sweeney, Polo, Pattison, Cripps, not playing Armo & Steven in 09/10

I was howled down for all of those, by a bunch of scavenger dogs, who's guise of being a better supporter meant they had the moral high ground, basically it was a bullying ... P66, Bunk, Magic, Byron, That other fool who just attacks whatever I post

The when I bring it up after the fact

It's hindsight

Give me a f***ing break!!!!!!

I've been wrong before - Hickey for example... Came straight on when it was proven he showed enough and said as much
Although, now he is being overrated by supporters... That being said he looks good

Have changed my mind on things... Jack Stevens ability to be elite (centred around his disposal and decision making)

Have always supported AR superb coach
Recruiting since Pelchen left superb

The problem is that use the term 'we', which suggests you somehow see the achievements or lack thereof, as some kind of reflection of yourself.

Which it of course is not.

Don't bring me into your delusional rants.
I only have a go at you when I think you've crossed the line of what is acceptable posting (IMHO of course)
You 'persecution complex' is actually getting quite boring for me (unlike you I don't speak for anybody else so I don't know if it's getting boring for others)

And I might as well post it now because your probably going to post the nonsense again about how I clashed with you over your 'call' on Howard even though I've corrected you numerous times that it wasn't. It as, in fat, your comments about Sippos that his father took exception to.

F*** off Magic

You crossed the line, as soon as you got personal. Since, you have denied it, but you know exactly what I mean, you're a disgrace!

outside of Bunkmoreland - it's you I despise the most, because you f*** ing lie.

P66 was constantly a pain in the arse because he was a protagonist ... But at least he would never shy away from his comments... And was just a prick

You, like Bunkmoreland are Just cats

Delusional.
No other word more accurately describes this particular post of yours.
You seriously need to seek professional help (IMHO).
I invite anybody who believes the claptrap that BigMart posted to go back and check the post history.
It's all there
No need for fanciful claims.
No need for revisionist history.

And to put the record straight :-
I got personal with you in a heated exchange over Sippos.
I publicly apologised later.
You chose/choose not to accept that apology.
Somehow in your 'twisted' and 'warped' view of what occurred that translates into me 'lying'?

Its that negative attitude that has us in this mess
It means greatly for us saints.

Mantra from beveridge was 'why not us?'
Simple but Phenomenol and one we need to adopt. We have this fear and it caused us to lose 97, 09 and 10
It also helps with getting players in.
Players want a special flag like that. You cant get a more
Meaningful flag now than our next one.

I feel the dogs flag helps us greatly!!
