If Stevens comes to us on 450K then Billings and Membrey are going to want 750K…Con Gorozidis wrote:I don't mind that - assuming he is worth pick 46 or thereabouts. I quite like him as a player. A good back up for Billings and Membrey. Especially given both of them are uncontracted at the end of 2017.jaxons wrote:Can tell you we are getting close to getting Koby Stevens.
The Dogs will be just happy to have him out of their cap.

If he is a free agent we get him for nothing, don't we?
And we would we want him anyway.
He can't get a game in a team we beat. Admittedly they won the flag, but still we beat them.

Re: Jaxons come on down
Would be interesting to know exactly why the club is going after him. Seems a GOP / meh kind of player. Why would we spend out currency on ordinary players like that?jaxons wrote:Can tell you we are getting close to getting Koby Stevens.

If we're going to over pay someone, let's over pay on an absolute start free agent next year.

Re: Jaxons come on down
Maybe some of the reason?
2015 One of the key contributors to the Bulldogs turnaround in the first half of the year, Koby Stevens was on his way to his most damaging season yet.
Stevens stood up in the absence of Tom Liberatore, playing a hard, inside role in the Dogs midfield.
His best performance came in the round 14 win against Carlton, picking up 28 disposals, five marks and seven tackles.
Stevens was averaging six tackles and 20 disposals before a stress fracture in his foot sidelined him after round 15, with the 24-year-old not returning for the remainder of the year.
What they said:
“It was a good year, I probably played the most consistent footy I have in my career so it was a bit of a bummer to go out with a stress fracture in the end… I played as an inside mid whereas I’d previously played as an outside mid and just that continuity with the boys that are in there now.” – Koby Stevens, September 2015
“Koby’s probably the perfect mix of what Bevo wants. Someone that can play multiple roles. He’s really strong above his head and he’s a great athlete so he’s got the ability to be hard inside but also to run and break lines outside and when Koby’s on he’s using the footy really well so he was a player we really missed at the back half of the year.” – Steven King (Western Bulldogs Assistant Coach), September 2015

Well played, Dockers
I guess the thing is about fire sales, if you leave it too long trying to get a bargain, sometimes you miss out.
McCarthy was free. If were moving on more gws players, I hope we dont leave it too long or it may cost us more. Their salary cap and extra players seems to be sorting out pretty quickly.
GWS just upgraded pick 7 to 3 and lost nothing in the process, due to the abundance of picks they have and will have, and McCarthy has some issues.
Plus another two benefits for GWS are:
- that as they will have Academy players to pick, that the more lower icks that they can get that the effective bid price for the best of those Academy players will probably drop.
- that when you have so much cream already, to make an improvement you need to be picking up the best of the best. ie Pick 3 is more likely to squeeze into their best future 22 than Pick 7 (though nothing is certain of course, but odds would favour it).

Just because? Contracted until end 2018.
Do you have any actual information or are we just plucking out player names from thin air?

Good back-up for Membrey and Billings just in case.
If we only have to use pick 67 on him then we might as well.

Re: Jaxons come on down
Very underwhelming trade period for us so far compared to other clubs. Two fringe players that are unlikely to push us further up the ladder.
I hope that the silence around our trading means that we are trying to land a bigger name.
