I still reckon their list is no good and SOS is clueless.
Besides recruiting people from GWS he is useless.
Will end up being a classic 'favourite son' scenario.

I am very please with how we traded.
I think you will find it was SOS who gathered that great team together at GWS with the charity they received from the AFL while Gold Coast with almost identical charity are a basket case.
In all honesty it says more about the Sun's ability to screw up the gift that was given to them.
It's hard to bugger up a team when you've been given that much assistance. But the Suns have done a magnificent job. Probably paid Ablett too much.
There is a full analysis somewhere on this on the internet by the Suns got not as good draft pick concessions as GWS.
I also think the Suns trying to build a side around Ablett was a mistake compared to GWS going for organic growth from kids with a few solid reliable older guys but no stars.

Hawks first pick in this draft is 88 - the pick they got for Sam Mitchell....
And they have to make 3 picks or rookie upgrades.
Picks 88, 90 and 108
They will probably be the last 3 players taken at the 2016 draft and they will be contracted for two years.

Superb trading this year....actually a staggering trade to get the 2 second rounders this year, in a draft that is even from 8-40....we could have been forgiven for doing a swap of pick 10 for 23 & 36...even without the first rounder next year.

Interesting how the academies affect our picks. Lions have a couple before our first and GWS have a half dozen before our 60. Real chance these picks become 20, 30 and 45.

Next year we will all be pleased to be sitting on two first rounders. Especially if the Hawks have an off year - which is possible.

Not to mention Hawthorn has no first round draft pick 2017.

Lost ALL their draft picks of any value for 2016.
Forced to draft and retain 3 players you didn't want for 2 years.
Lost their Best and Fairest Sam Mitchell,
Lost their B & F runner up Jordan Lewis
Lost Brad Hill
Lost their 2017 first round draft pick
Got Ty Vickery
Got Tom Mitchell
Got a medical risk in Jaeger O'Meara.

Try explaining that to your board of management.
Ouch !

Xavier Richards left it too late to gather interest to get him out of Sydney.
Do you suppose Carlton were never going to trade Gibbs? Unless of course to deal was too irresistible to knock back.
Unfortunate for Gibbs but he DID sign that contract.

Lets not forget we didn't have a second rounder.. Amazing comeback. Not only did we get the players we needed, we still have a couple of good picks left.

Then weve set up next year to really challenge for quality.

Once October comes around next season, Graham Wright and his team will either all get massive pay rises, or all get the sack....

They've put massive weight on Mitchell & O'Meara's shoulders, and young Jaeger's knees just aren't that strong....

How fantastic would it be if the AFL rejects it on a technicality.
But I suspect it is a complicated trade including other clubs so that Hawthorn could gather those two second round picks from elsewhere.
Went for pick 10 and next year's 2nd round pick.

So Hawthorn have no 1st round this year, and no 1st or 2nd round next year!

And lost their top 2 in the B&F!
Ok ignore the Hawks spin the real JOM trade is:

Hawks In: JOM +68
Traded for: 23 +36 +48 + 66 + 70 + first Hawk's first rounder of 17

GC: Get 10 + GWS 2017 Second Rounder.

GWS 2017 Second Rounder (via Blues who were amazingly generous. I reckon Hawks will pay them back in the future....).

Still working through some last minute scenarios.
May not get him by 2pm deadline tomorrow but will secure him one way or another.
The Doggies list manager said the trade would go through before the trade period closed on Thursday.

And it did.

Never any snags imho.

If this is the case I can only assume we are working on something else that messes this deal up as if not it is pure incompetence.

We were told the deal would get done and that it was straight forward, and looks like we have left it to the last minute.

If we did not have what the Bulldogs wanted or had not already agreed to an exchange of picks then surely we would of not put this deal on the back burner to the end of the week.

Can't believe given Ameet and the teams performance this trade period that we would stuff this up, and I know if he his delisted we can pick him up for nothing.
The boys were never going to stuff it up, and they didn't.

Great performance from our team.

We should all be pretty happy.

He signed that contract believing Carlton were on the way up.
Now he has to play for a bunch of tankers for three years.

I have no sympathy for players who sign contracts and then are stymied when trying to break said contract. Tough s***.

my read of the Abblett trade was GWS thought exactly the opposite
they had very very good KP bookends
they had a very functional engine room
plenty of good outside run
just need the cherry on top that ablett brought with him

Someone who is really ITK told me before the trade period commenced that there was some interest in both Eli And Billy but the club was anxious to keep both of them.

Neither were ever mentioned as possible trades in the past fortnight.

I can only presume that that is still the case with both of them (keep them), so the chances are Eli will not be delisted.

That leaves Lee, Fisher, Shenton and Murdoch as the most likely four players to go.

Of course the club might be planning on upgrading O'Kearney or Coghlan in which case Eli wont be retained.

We will all have to wait and see.

As is the case with these types of situations, the real result of their efforts in this trade period probably won't be known for another 2 years.

When Gibson, Hodge and Burgoyne are all gone and they haven't drafted for 4 years is when you'll find out if they've made wise decisions or not.

The problem is we need to delist four to have three picks in the draft (required) and to trade in the three new players.
If we keep Eli then the only other one likely is Shenton.

It seems tough on Shenton when he had such a great season at Sandy.

I initially said that Steele wanted to go to Richmond. When that blew up I said he was coming to the Saints, way, way back in September before jaxons every stated that.

That is, if the Saints and he could come to an agreement

He wanted first and formost tp play regular games.

I got that information from one of his mates who he played football with at Belconnen.

jaxons has actually told the forum nothing during this trade period, as others have pointed out.

I don't know if he is ITK or not.

What I do know is that posters really in the know don't post confidential information on public forums.

Especially if it would harm the St Kilda football club.
