They have to compensate us for the crap stadium deal they forced us in to.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Re: How is the AFL Pie is split
Not too sure about Melbourne. I might be wrong, but as far as I can remember, they had massive help from the AFL over the past few years, since they seemed to have been mismanaged for quite some time and couldn’t lift themselves off the bottom. Didn’t the AFL pay for Paul Roos to coach them to get them back on track?

Re: How is the AFL Pie is split
What about the millions gifted to Geelong by the AFL and Geelong supporting state premiers to develop their boutique stadium?

and an even Salary cap

Those salary cap advantages included Brisbane Lions’ retention allowance during their 2001-2003 premiership years, Sydney’s cost of living allowance, and bigger salary caps for clubs entering the competition.
At one stage GWS had not only a cost of living allowance but an extra salary cap dispensation because of its bigger list size and retention issues.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
And the league now has a football department salary cap — $9.6 million last year.
McLachlan wrote in the AFL annual general report released last week that he was proud of such a significant achievement.
“For the first time in 2017, every club will have the same salary cap, which we believe will further enhance the competitive balance of our national competition,’’ he wrote.

Like this:
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

The numbers are meaningless without some context…
Gold Coast & GWS have cost over $200,000,000 in the past 5 years, and still no-one cares about them.

The TV stations do and they have probably added money to other clubs.

Doesn't matter about the ratings on those games. The GWS WB final was one the biggest ratings prelims ever. Maybe the highest. And the TV stations paid the money so I would think they know what they are doing. Well more than us.

You are going to look very stupid in 5 years time when both GC and GWS have the same amount of members as St Kilda. And like a complete idiot in 10 when they have more than us. Bookmark it!!dragit wrote:The numbers are meaningless without some context…
