Re: Welcome to the Big league Rowan
Very pleased with this selection.
In my humble opinion he should have debuted last week instead of Battle.
I was impressed with this kid right from the time he played for North Ballarat.
His form has been so good for Sandy this season that he deserves and has earned his chance.
I hope he grabs it with both hands. Literally.

Re: Welcome to the Big league Rowan
Played his junior footy down here in Portland and i worked with his dad and there was always talk of how well he was going ,never thought he would end up at the Saints but cant wait to see him debut .He could be that missing link we need in the next few years as the second ruck/forward and defence player .
Good Luck and hope to see you here most likely around xmas. The new Sheriff is in town!!!

Re: Welcome to the Big league Rowan
Ah, my bad for posting a thread without noticing this one.
Thought I'd post what I said in that before the mods cut it:
If you thought the selection of Josh Battle came as a surprise, this week's selection from out of left field comes in the form of one Rowan Marshall.
He'll be wearing #43 and stands at a lofty 201 cm, with a reasonably solid frame, weighing in at 98kg.
The 21-year-old lad was originally recruited from Portland, before going to North Ballarat where is showed tremendous ability. Apparently he is a beautiful kick of the football and a very versatile player.
Best of luck to Rowan with his AFL debut!
Holler for a Marshall, 7 days a week! MAAAAARRRRRSSSSSHHHHHALLLLL!!!
(Sorry, 12th Man version wasn't available)

Hopefully Marshall can make a lot of noise in a big debut!

if he gets into a rhythm, shows a bit of pluck,Sainternist wrote:Hopefully Marshall can make a lot of noise in a big debut!
does well on the lead,
he could be a nice bloke to bass our attack on !
Just needs to string together some good performances
to bridge that gap between VFL and seniors.
Richo- don't axe him after one game.
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

Re: Welcome to the Big league Rowan
Marshall is very much a modern player, being battery powered. Good for the environment.
If he doesn't perform well he will be dropped for Skunk.
Really pleased that didn't take the easy of option of gifting Battle another game. This is a better idea - even if Holler For does little it's hard to imagine Battle being any more effective

You own a Hiwatt head? Didn't know you were a guitarist, Satch.satchmo wrote:Prefer the Hiwatt, myself, and looks like Joe doesn't mind it either.
Also, you must be the first person I've come across to refer to J Mascis as Joe. Apparently Joseph is his first name, so it makes sense.
Pardon my ignorance, but who is The Oo?Bernard Shakey wrote:

Re: Welcome to the Big league Rowan
Don't own a hiwatt, but if you can find an old one, that's what the best Marshalls are trying to sound like. Actually, I'd prefer a Goldentone, and I do have one of those.Sainternist wrote:You own a Hiwatt head? I presume that the "Oo" is the cockney pronunciation of the "Who"

"A little band from Shepherds Bush, The Oo" Intro from Isle of Wight or Live at Leeds can't remember which.satchmo wrote:Don't own a hiwatt, but if you can find an old one, that's what the best Marshalls are trying to sound like. Must be Isle of Wight. Live at Leeds is straight into Young man blues from memory. It's all good though!Bernard Shakey wrote:"A little band from Shepherds Bush, The Oo" Intro from Isle of Wight or Live at Leeds can't remember which.satchmo wrote:Don't own a hiwatt, but if you can find an old one, that's what the best Marshalls are trying to sound like.
