Re: Bainsey linked to Collingwood CEO role
I don't want to see Baines go but can understand if it were to be the AFL CEO.
I couldn't begrudge him a huge step in his career.
But to go to Collingwood as the CEO would be very undesirable.
It would just highlight how the rich clubs do have an advantage over the less so.
Also the intellectual property that would go with that. Our whole drafting/trading strategy could be compromised.

Re: Bainsey linked to Collingwood CEO role
Imagine if he moved to Collingwood and it resulted in the ultimate success and we had nothing
I can't see Ameet being too proud of that. Unfinished business at the StKFC.
I guess there would be enough back slapping with another Pie premiership to overcome it.
If our board value Baines as much as it appears why don't we outbid any Collingwood offer ?
It's time we're not pushed around.

As great as he has been for the club we cant continue to expect him to put his career development on hold for the cause. Just hope he gets the AFL job over the Collingwood CEO.

Re: Bainsey linked to Collingwood CEO role
I don't think any of us can expect someone to set aside their career aspirations for the sake of us winning a flag. The AFL is no longer a "sporting competition", its ( to use their OWN expression) an "industry" or a "brand" anyone who believes otherwise is (IMHO) not getting it.Impatient Sainter wrote:As great as he has been for the club we cant continue to expect him to put his career development on hold for the cause. Re: Bainsey linked to Collingwood CEO role
Big stretch.
The Pies turnover is much greater than the Saints and they are a much more complicated business than the Saints with many more business units that the Saints have, plus many more total employees.
Whereas at the Saints he is not even in the No 1 role.
It would be a huge leap in faith for the Pies to go for a person with Bans current employment background.
And remember that a CEO role is not going to get involved in player contracts or list management in any details, even if Bains role is more than that now.

Heard on the grapevine that Bainsy has been linked to the top job in the US - all depends on whether they can rid of the fkwt numpty currently in charge
The Devil makes work for idle hands!!!
