Oh God. I feel sick. How did we get in front? And then how did we lose?
Glad they showed such fight, but devastated.

Superb effort with woeful finishing.
We do play some dumb football...shouldve had an absolute scrum at that last stoppage

No pure desperation. They put it all out there and were first at the drop of the ball and it paid off.magnifisaint wrote:Pure arse won Port Adelaide the game. Unbelievable bulls***!

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 19 2017
So many incidents cost St Kilda that game...twice playing on from frees in the forward 50 and missing etc.
Kicking 3.12 from first 15 scoring shots is another.
Still, endeavour was superb. Decision-making not so good. Strategy going into F50 is hit and miss.
Carlisle on his way to being Saints B and F for 2017.
Maybe only Billings, Dunstan or Ross could take it off him.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 19 2017
Too many short-stepping arm tacklers in the team to be any good. Thank goodness we don't embarrass ourselves by playing against the men of the competition in Finals! Disgusted. Yes - I should be proud we gave our best. I should be proud that for the past 25 years 'we gave our best.' Right now is about the time I become a little impatient. Clean the place out. Sick of being second to the ball... sick of stylish players with no heart... sick of try-hards in our colours... sick of accepting mediocrity.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 19 2017
What a shattering loss, how can Gray get so much space when it was obvious Longer was going to be torn a new as*hole at that ruck contest as he had been for the entire day. Not good enough and we won't play finals now, cannot lose games like that and expect to play finals.
That last effort by Billings and Ross was pathetic, Billings had a lot of bad moments today

Last 4 games also very lose able. Sorry, we need major changes at the end of the year. We simply aren't tough enough, can't score.
I am happy we won't make the finals because we would just get smashed in the 1st week.

We aren't that far off, another game that shouldn't have come done to the last clearance.
Had our disposal been cleaner we would have had it in the bag by 3qtr time- we need some 'smart' recruits, so much time spent with my head in my hands tonight bewildered by the poor choices. Not sure how to feel after that.

Ross has no heart. If Carlisle does not win our B&F - that too is rigged. Dunstan on the way to becoming an A Grader.

not his effort. His speed. Thats how slow he is relative to grayTom_Sainter wrote:What a shattering loss, how can Gray get so much space when it was obvious Longer was going to be torn a new as*hole at that ruck contest as he had been for the entire day. Really? They werent the ones missing the goals. There is a mute button for a reason. And if anyone blames the umpires I'll spew up.Devilhead wrote:The commentary was putrid as well - willing Port over the line all day

Not correcting Bad Kicking is just plain unforgiveable. I hope they are hurting

We accept mediocraity way to easily at this football club
Just sick of the saints...just not worth it..
To lose with under 2min to play and 10 points up in unacceptable especially with so much on the line
Just trash

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 19 2017
Good news is that Dunstan is playing the best footy of his career, at a time when most thought he had gone backwards from his first year. I think wet conditions suit him but give credit when it is due.
Sinclair was also huge in that last quarter, except for the uncharacteristic poor kick out
And Carlisle is a STAR

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 19 2017
disappointing to lose like that but an awesome effort by many players. we've had a five game hell stretch and missing our four most experienced. the lads did well. hopefully certain posters eat humble pie over their pathetic criticism of dunstan.
white looked very good for a second gamer. carlisle was enormous. in the end very unlucky not to get a win no one expected.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 19 2017
Incredible effort to get back in that in the last quarter. Ports 2nd last goal was very unlucky for us. Took some absolute brilliance in the end from 2 incredible players. 22 blokes out there showed significantly more heart for the saints than quite a few ordinary "supporters" on here.

Ryder went too far back for the ruck contest but Longer went back to him.loris wrote:Paddy put the ball right down Gray's throat - great ruckwork - tho still should have 2 covering Grey at that stage.
Ryder runs in the get the tap leaving Londer in his wake.
Longer was not even in the contest.
If you can't win the ruck contest, you can't mark, you can't kick, and you are outsmarted are you a ruckman.
