Season-defining match against the Dees coming up
1:10 Sunday Aug 13 at The G. Be there if you can to make some frigging noise.
Truly an 8-point game in the battle for 8th place.
And it's the opportunity to payback Melbourne for knocking us off in Round One, which I
still can't believe.
Dees have hit a rough patch, Saints motor might just be coming to life - played well
against Port, played well against WCE.
Saints - it's time to make a stand!

Re: Season-defining match against the Dees coming up
Been hearing all season from their fans how we've blown a chance of a flag by picking McCartin over Petracca. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to end their season, or at least make it very difficult for them.

Re: Season-defining match against the Dees coming up
Every game from the last three onward has been season defining. Another mini elimination final. We're better than them. Let's prove it. We'll flog that s*** stain club, Norf, and it will all come down to beating the vulnerable tigers. Then 4 final wins in a row, we win the flag and then I wake up from the most beautiful dream!
I think you're pretty tough, don't I?

They arent even in the 8!
They are 10th. So hardly season defining. We need to win all 3.
We could beat the Dees and still end up 11th.

Would love it if we could send the Range Roving Ski Bunnies back to the retreat of their chalets on the slopes of Mount Bulla.

Depends on how quickly the boys recover. That was a bruising game today. Our depth isn't great. Hopefully if Gilbo returns he can replace Roo.

One game at a time. IF we bring our best efforts, and get the slightest bit of good fortune, we can beat Melbourne. Priority is to PREPARE ourselves for a finals-like game !

Spoke to Gilbo at the sponsor function today - he is definitely right to play next week.saintspremiers wrote:Depends on how quickly the boys recover. That was a bruising game today. Our depth isn't great. Hopefully if Gilbo returns he can replace Roo.
But doubt it will be at the expense of Roo - no way is he going to miss his last few games.

Re: Season-defining match against the Dees coming up
The post game consensus among the tribe was we need to do a few things differently, starting with the side we pick. We can't go in with the same front end set up, particularly with Roo proppy. Plus, we're at the G and the midfield combination isn't quick, particularly with Jack clearly playing hurt.saintspremiers wrote:Depends on how quickly the boys recover. So, for ours, the tribe's, Battle plays, and so does DMac for some outside speed and bravado. Roo and Weller miss out.
We can beat them, but not if we're conservative. We beat a side today who ain't much chop - they play Sling Shot & Kennedy, or bust - Melbourne are better than that, look at the Adelaide game - they came from 4 down and won easily. Oppose them with a lazy script, and they'll go OK. Gawn and Viney run them, and the rest feed off how those 2 go. Billy needs to compete (and he does) and Koby Stevens needs to do a job on Viney (which he can). Luckily, Gawn's not fully right, and Viney's still got the residual injury problem.
But, we've got to be way more organised because, when we're not, we can dominate the stats and still get beaten - we're incredibly wasteful.

Any loss and finals are gone due to our poor percentage. We need to win an extra game or have one hell of a blow out win against say North to make it on anything less than 13 wins.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

That's more than fair comment, colleague. Personally, I'm not thinking about finals, top, eight finish, or anything else other than making sure that I'm there for each one of these final games of Roo's career, and barracking my heart out!Bruce G McAbee wrote:Any loss and finals are gone due to our poor percentage. Well Jiggster I hope to be too depending on how quickly I recover from last week's surgery. Not very comfortable to sit down at the moment.thejiggingsaint wrote:That's more than fair comment, colleague.
