St.Kilda promised a "big fish" so now we're going to pay overs for a bloke in a position that we don't need.
I like him as a player, I enjoy watching him. Reads the play well, as brave as they come. But just NOT what we need.
If we were light on for HBF's I'd use pick 8 on him for sure. But we aren't. We need pace & class desperately. You can't get that UNLESS you use high picks. You can get good third talks/hbf's with low picks.
This just screams St.Kilda.

In the hypothetical that we use 7 or 8
ie Carlisle for Pick 5 may have been questionable, but Carlisle and Gresh for effectively pick was was fantastic.
If we use Pick 7 or 8 mu guess is another player or pick would be involved.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Thanks Jaxons.
I'd be very happy if we could score Haynes.
Most premiership sides are based around a rock solid defence.
I don't see Brown as the answer in a flag winning side.
The big full forward is fading fast. Dangerfield caused havoc vs Sydney.
If the gorilla full forward is not the future (Hawkins) then the slow negating gorilla full back is also.
Hayne is versatile, has played forward and is a proven back, also played wing and who knows might be a midfielder in the style of the Bont.
He's 3 cm bigger than Bont.
Great contested mark, right age bracket to make an immediate impact.
We have two top ten draft picks. If we lost one for Hayne and maybe a second pick coming back we'd be on to a good thing imo.
We'd still have a top ten pick to go for the best midfielder we can find in the draft.
Maybe a free agent as well ? We have cash to splash.
Added to this some of our pool of mids take the next step up and things are looking not too shabby.

I'd never heard this guy's name, let alone watched him play.
Can someone answer:
- can he kick?
- is he a good one-on-one player?
Thanks.

He looks a player to me.
Best description I can think of is another version of Roberton but probably a stronger contested mark.
Very accountable. Ready to run a ball out of the backline quick smart.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Haynes is great news... takes Nathan Brown out and sends our backline to one of the most attacking and versatile in the league.
Thanks Jaxons!!!
Let's hope we are trying to pry a mid out too, Devon Smith would be nice but we might be late to the party...

Thanks, magnifisaint (I watch only saints games plus maybe some highlights), howlinwolf and BringBackMadDog. Sounds like a good addition.
Hopefully it's not too expensive and we can still get some gun kids as well.

love his attack on the ball and apart from his injury this year has been quite consistent over the last three years
my first question is - why would he want to leave GWS?

My thoughts tooThe_President wrote:So we're adding another Half back flanker?
If we give up 7 or 8 for him I'll spew.
Fecking midfielders please what's wrong with these muppets?? Midfield was smashed against decent sides multiple times this year, we have no elite ball user in there at all and recruit HBF??

Contracted until 2019 and clearly one of their stars. This is all silly, a prank, yes? Nonsense needs to be moderated as much as conflicting passion on this forum, agree? Feeding on our insecurities is hardly clever.

I can only assume that in asking " there is talk of moving him on" that you must not listen to radio, use social media, watch tv, read websites apart from this thread, read newspapers, visit pubs or even your workplace's water cooler?happy feet wrote:My Melbourne spies tell me that both the Club and Simon Goodwin are not happy with Jack Watts and there is talk of moving him on.

Would give 8 up for him easy, longterm backman replacement maybe not the number one need but almost a number two, by replace brown with a more attacking player
