Woah! Like the smaller group. Seems like you need to be a certain starter too which is good. Gives blokes opportunities for a year and flexible to change with a changing team.
Ross
Roberton
Steven
Geary
Gilbert?
Geez it's a young team.

Pretty much a no brainer. I guess they didn’t want Gilbo due to his age and that he won’t be around much longer.

Newnes next captain. Well would be if I was in charge. Have been calling him Captain Jack for years. Oozes class and confidence as a speaker.saintspremiers wrote:100% go to the top of the class!BackFromUSA wrote:My guess

Re: Gears to captain this year
I'd like to see Billings get some Extra responsibility. Another stage in his development into a marquee player.
"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Re: Gears to captain this year
I hear what you are saying but not yet. He doesn't inspire as much as others at present IMO. Plus if he wants to transition more into the midfield this year I say let him focus on that. Next year more likely if he has a great season.Drake Huggins wrote:I'd like to see Billings get some Extra responsibility. Another stage in his development into a marquee player.

Re: Gears to captain this year
Happy with that group & Geary as Captain...
Young emerging group that will grow this year..
I see this year as the start of the Finals/Premiership window after a long rebuild...
At the end of the year player assessment will be raised at a much higher bar than the past, it has to be considering where we are in the Premiership clock.

Love Geary. Good skipper for now.
Would like to see Ross and Dunstan as our two captains in a couple of years as midfield generals.

Re: Gears to captain this year
I like the new 5 man group. Good size.
I would also like to see a separate group of say 3 "apprentice" leaders - the up and coming leaders. For example, Dunstan is one that looks like he may have leadership capability but his form doesn't quite warrant him in the leadership group yet. Create a 3 man apprenticeship group and assign mentors either from within the existing leadership group - or from a trusted external mentor eg Rooey or Joey. School them in leadership. You could do a maximum of say 2 years in the apprentice group - and then either get promoted or rotate someone else through. Once their form is good enough they can be promoted as ready made leaders.
