Lewis Pierce form update
An extremely upbeat piece from AFL.com about recent form at Frankston. Good luck to him.

"The results show his improved form. In round one, Pierce had 40 hit-outs to his Essendon counterpart Matthew Leuenberger's 38, before he racked up 54 last Saturday against Box Hill, with Marc Pittonet winning 37."

Re: Lewis Pierce form update
We've been lamenting our Ruck stocks thus far and Pierce hasn't come into the conversation. Sounds like he's in good form at Frankston.

Re: Lewis Pierce form update
The boy has ability. It's all about confidence and attitude now. Perhaps the move to Frankston will turn out to be a master stroke. I firmly believe he and Marshall are the future in the ruck for us in the medium to long term. I hear he's finally got his attitude and body right. Maybe the kick in the bum of being put on the rookie list has woken him up. Nothing like staring at your AFL mortality to get you motivated. Still only 23.

Posted a few times before that an ex ruck coach claimed that eventually Lewis would be the most talented ruckman from our stocks... but he would take time...

Re: Lewis Pierce form update
With Hickey's showing today, Marshall showing lots of promise and Lewie improving with better opportunities, the area that was a liability in the first month, now looks very promising all of a sudden. As Balmey says, "Bloody ruckmen! Either you've got too many, or not enough!" Hickey showed today why he is far and above the best ruckman on the list.

Re: Lewis Pierce form update
Interesting a couple of years ago I saw Pierce play outstanding in an intra club game.and I thought he was ready to jump out then. Hopefully he does enough to force his way back into contention as I think we will need to trade a ruclman this year.supersaints wrote:Posted a few times before that an ex ruck coach claimed that eventually Lewis would be the most talented ruckman from our stocks... but he would take time...

Re: Lewis Pierce form update
Not much defending according to the scores
FRANKSTON 20.9 (129) d NORTH MELBOURNE 17.14 (116)
IN A NUTSHELL: Frankston scored its first victory since Round 5, 2016 – including the club’s year out of the competition in 2017 – in a rollercoaster contest at Avalon Airport Oval. The Dolphins held the lead from early in the second quarter, but their biggest advantage over the dogged Kangaroos was 19 points just before the final siren.
KEY MOMENTS: A goal to Nick Rippon entering time-on of the final term brought the Kangaroos to within two points of the lead, but answering majors to firstly Sam Fowler then Nathan Scagliarini and Matthew La Fontaine finally put Frankston out of North Melbourne’s reach.
LEADING GOALKICKERS: Frankston – Rich 5, La Fontaine 2, Pierce 2, Ferreira 2, Gill-Renouf 2 / North Melbourne – Close 4, Larkey 4, Cameron 2
FORMLINES: Frankston’s competitive first halves in losses to Essendon and then the Box Hill Hawks translated to a four-quarter effort against the Kangaroos. / North Melbourne pipped the Northern Blues in its first VFL game last week before this defeat.
NEXT UP: Williamstown vs Frankston (Williamstown Football Ground) / Coburg vs North Melbourne (Piranha Park)
