Who did Brown curtail that would justify keeping his spot in the side?
I think this post has gone a little off topic so this will be my last post on Brown here. I think you missed my point He usually takes he's guy out of the equation. It makes little sense to mention stats for multiple players that had multiple players marking them. It makes as much sense as saying he let them kick all 16 goals. Re-watch the highlights (lowlights) and you will see that Brown usually has he's man covered. If the ball gets kicked to a player he is not marking then it is not his role to stop it nor is it physically possible.
We got Brown to be a stopper and that is what he does most games. He does get beaten on occasions, everyone does especially against class i.e. Ben Brown but who would have honestly done better. Plus he should only play games where the opposition has a big full forward, he is not worth playing when they are all small and agile.
I completely agree he has no offence but that is not why we got him. You can't be annoyed that someone isn't doing something he was never meant to do.
In saying that Logan from all accounts isn't tearing it up at VFL level nor did he at AFL in Adelaide. We shouldn't just play him because we have to justify trading him in. Goddard is slow as so who would you replace Brown with and why?
Okay so we agree on brown being there for the danger key forwards, with the stats I have put up, im trying to establish who was in the team to stop & whether he did the job.

People are saying he is going great but no-one seems to able come up with a player that he beat which would give him another week.

Who did he stop for Melbourne and who would he be looking to stop in the freo side?

The fact is he played every game last year regardless of their tall forward stocks and it is looking likely again.

Put Logan in to have a good look at him and play Carlisle updront for a while as a swingman.
We need to play players with potential and have a good look at them, guys like Armitage is just a waste of time.

I do not know if Logan will make it or not, but he is symptomatic or our current confused and haphazaed recruting.

Yet another tall defender. So Carlisle, Goddard, Brown, Clavarino and now Austin amongst the latest batch.

While Brown made sense if your goal was to give Roo a last crack at a flag, Roo is gone now and so the mindset should now firmly be on developing our youth and building our new team.

If we had the faith to pay the price to get Austin, we should now in what is now a development year have the faith to play and develop him with some games in the firsts.

But the club maintains its haphazard approach instead.

PS... with the tall players that we have the club should now concentrate on class in our engine room. Mids needs to be the focus of our new acquisitions.

I can't understand why we went for both Calavarino and Austin. Wasn't our focus on quick, outside miss with good kicking skills? With Goddard and Brown already there surely one or the other would have been sufficient, especially as we traded ourselves out if this year's rounds 2 and 3. Bewildering.

Bingo, just wasting valuable game time with Brown, like we did on Weller last year instead of getting a good look at Long a season earlier.

But Weller is a hunk. Marketing dreamboat. The muscles. The huffing. The puffing. The golden tan. The hair. The fact he cant actually play is irrelevant.

Even now the coach cant bring himself to drop Mav. Has to claim that he is 'injured'.

Doesn't want to get on Mav's bad side.

I just think it is conceding that Goddard will never make it.
I tgink they made that call at the end of last year and decided to get a partky developed young KPD who will be right to go in the right time frame.
Clavarino as a back up, Goddard to be delisted.

Gawd, some of you are quick to pull the trigger. The poor kid has had a bad run with injuries and missed most of last year.

Give him a break.

their hand's been forced, due to tragic long term injuries to Roberton, Koby, etc
and they now have to promote guys.
That's a positive, I suppose.

Would the club be worried about such coterie members, when it comes to selecting the team?

Haven’t seen it either but 23 possessions, 8 marks, 3 tackles suggests he contributed.

If he actually defended alright, then I’d say he’s has or is about to overtake Brown

Seemed to do ok, bit hard to judge as they didn’t really have any big forwards.

I was there, i liked his game, he should play for a few weeks to settle into the team, we'd get a better idea then of what he has to offer.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Gets a pass mark from me and certainly did enough to suggest he could be a player going forward.

Early days but I reasonably impressed. Not quite sure what his ideal role is, but that will come in time.

Would be fantastic if he can find a way to work with Carlisle, even though that is wildly optimistic in the current scheme of things.

Can't see Nathan Brown getting back into this team, Logan was like an extra player with all those possessions.

Fair comment.

But then, the Tigers didn't have any monster forwards.

Brown has his place on the list.

The last thing Goddard needs is a break.
He needs to run, run and run, not plod, plod, plod and plod.

Seriously. What is the plan?
Are were trying to create a premiership team?
Our backline should be something like:

Geary Austin Rice
Webster Carlisle White

What is the point of playing Nate Brown? With all due respect.
Is Richo planning for the future or coaching just to hold his job?

I haven't been able to establish which "monster" forwards brown has stopped for the past 9 weeks, in fact even his supporters go silent whenever I ask…

Today highlights a ridiculous situation…

Brown only has a place on the list if we want stay on the bottom of the ladder, football has moved on from pure stoppers… it's embarrassing to pretend otherwise and is costing us valuable experience for players like Logan.

He did a good job on Hawkins. So he is useful for the one time a year we play Geelong who have the only 'stay at home' fwd in the comp.

I actually think Brown is a very good football player.
But we are 3rd last. I just dont see any point playing him. It isnt his fault.
If we were top 8 then he holds his spot. But we arent.
