Saints and China
Would you be upset if we took over from the Suns next year?
If it meant losing out debt, should we do it?

Re: Saints and China
I would be outraged giving up a home game so the Sth Aussie pricks can make a shitload of money while ensuring a win for themselves.

Re: Saints and China
Sadly, I will be staggered if we aren't subbed in for GCS. The AFL were happy for their child to be paid $1M last year to 'host' the game (let's face it - it's just Port paying the AFL) and this year, it worked perfectly for the AFL/GCS as their home ground was out of action. But - Port need the profile of a real team to make it work and we'll sell our soul right now to make a $ (which we don't have much of and next year, after all the lapsed members due to this year's debacle). If there's $1M+ on offer from Port and we're ~$10M in debt - I can't think how the AFL won't 'strongly suggest' we pick up where the GCS left off

Re: Saints and China
Port Adelaide never play St Kilda in Melbourne, so we might as well play them in China.

Re: Saints and China
The 'don't have much of' refers to money/cash/moula. We're in a massive hole financially.
The 'all the lapsed members due to this year's debacle' refers to the insipid shite we're serving up week after week.
Do you honestly believe that we will have more members next year than presently? We couldn't even drag in 35K to a marquee home game against the filth on a Sat night. I can tell you that Aisles 37 and 38 (i.e. the original rusted on St KFC Social Club area from 2000 onwards) was 3/4 full at best on Sat night. The mood isn't pretty in there.
Good luck trying to sell us to even the most hardiest of supporters in 2019 - people will understand if you tell them the truth but rarely will they tolerate it if you bullsh1t to them (speaking of which - Peter Summers actually sits in Aisle 36 and after his delusional rubbish on CrunchTime on Saturday arvo - he'd have likely received some feedback.

Re: Saints and China
I'd be delighted to play in China.
I'm not interested in visiting Adelaide but I'd definitely go to Shanghai.
Shanghai is a really amazing city, one of the most exciting destinations in the world.

Re: Saints and China
Been there, shithole with all the pollution and the Chinese don't really like us. Reckon we are American puppets.
Oh and you need to battle temperatures in the high 30s this time of the year.
I wouldn't do anything to empower and enrich Port and that's exactly what you would be doing
The power actually want to play back to back games there next year giving them basically 13 home games.
They say contractual arrangements with Adelaide Oval means they can't play one of their home games in China.
I would tell Port to piss off.

What a load of horseshit. China can get stuffed. They treat humans worse than they treat household pets. I don't want the Saints involved with the commie bastards.

Re: Saints and China
well we are the greatest global crowd drawers in the afl. hold the record for the three highest international home and away game attendances in the afl's history!
i mean we drew one in every twenty two wellingtonians to our first game. Translate that to Shanghai and we're talking a crowd of over 1 and a quarter million!
and port get what? 10,000 and that's lying through their arse.

Everyone I've spoken to has loved visiting China. I've always found them friendly as a tourist. If the timing was right I'd definitely go to a game in Shanghai.
