So indirect

Post: # 1752623Post bigcarl »

I haven’t seen many matches live this season, regrettably, because of work commitments and also because we suck so badly.

One thing that stood out to me today was how indirect we are in our play. The first choice seems to be to go wide and short rather than long and direct.

Perhaps this has been forced on us by injuries to key players such as Bruce, but I lost count of the times today when we came unstuck after a chain of handballs when a quick kick - even to a contest - would have served us better.

Very frustrating to watch.

Positives?

Marshall looks to have the makings of a very good big man. Not sure yet whether he’s a ruckman or a forward, but I’m sure he’s a footballer

That’s alarming.

You can go direct when you are prepared to run the ball and that is what they did, plus I think the fowards led more and it was an open game as testament to the high scores.

We dont have the foot skills or the running power to open up the corridor well enough & when we try we turn the ball over & we get so badly burnt the other way , so you can see why we go indirect because its a lot safer & a lot easier to limit the damage.

Bunch of spuds absolutely have heart explosions as soon as they hit half forward. Never seen anything more pathetic on my life.
There is not ONE single player I wouldn’t consider for trade. Not one.

100% right. We went up the guts 50% more than usual tonight.

Just butchered it at half forward most times by not kicking to any possible advantage
