Offer put to Lonie according to Gallagher
Saints have made an offer to Jack Lonie and are confident he’ll stay, despite interest from Collingwood.

Just reading on that same webpage that Langdon from the pies might still be open to offers. He would be worth chasing, good mark, reliable type

I thought he always had a one year deal but wanted longer so he started looking around. Found little interest in Melbourne

Re: Offer put to Lonie according to Gallagher
Happy to keep Lones; we finally saw a bit of the upside at the end of the season with both defensive and offensive work.
It is worth persisting to see where that goes - in this case very definitely because his heart is with the mighty Sainters and we need that more than anything right now.

Always loyal

Really not a fan of Lonie. Would happily see him go to Collingwood and get a pick in return

I also want Lonie gone he wi'll now be cheap and this will be his absolute final last chance season. Bulk up mate and learn to tackle in the offseason and prove us doubters wrong or Richo and you can go together

Not many more on list put as good an effort in in the second half of the season as Lonie- showed a bit of mongrel, used the ball well, kicked goals- exactly what you want from a small forward. He would be well ahead of a lot of his team mates if I was offering contracts.

All true...but to my mind, that has given him currency.spert wrote: ↑Fri 05 Oct 2018 10:37am Not many more on list put as good an effort in in the second half of the season as Lonie- showed a bit of mongrel, used the ball well, kicked goals- exactly what you want from a small forward. Re: Offer put to Lonie according to Gallagher
Why? Besides Ben Long and Gresh we dont have another specialist small forward. Gresh will spend more time in the midfield nexy year. At best we need Lonie for back up but I believe he showed enough on the back end of the season that he's worth preserving with. I think Long and Lonie can work well together. Lonie needs to put a bit more weight on to make the tackles stick but you cant question his endeavour. I read somewhere recently that statistically he was in the top 3 best small forwards in the game for the last 6 weeks of the season now he may have come good, folks want to get rid of him! He deserves an extension.

Re: Offer put to Lonie according to Gallagher
I don't think anyone is saying Lonie is busting his guys to play afl which is both great and a little sad in that drive isn't enough. Yes he played well for four games but what about the preceding 19. He was poor and got dropped a lot in a team that is crap. That isn't a good sign. If he had a decent offer he would have gone but he didn't so he stays now.

Only trade him is there is someone better coming in/up.
No use blowing him off only to 50 games into someone worse and then flicking them.
ATM he's one of the better fringe players.
