Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
How much do they want it?
From afl.com.au
Adelaide have picks 8, 13, 16 & 21
Port have 6 and 10
From reading Knightmare on Bigfooty:
"Walsh/Lukosius are picks 1/2 if Carlton/Gold Coast have the picks.
Then you've got in some order Rozee/M.King/Rankine/B.King/B.Smith/Blakey.
Those 8 are considered a fair way ahead of all the others as players who all would slot into the top-5 in any given year. "
If we trade pick 4 to Port or Adelaide and pick up another player or another high pick it may well be worth it.
Eg we trade 4 & 28 to Adelaide for 8 & 13
They take either Rozee or Rankine
By Pick 8 we have either of the Kings or possibly even Smith left available depending on the Dogs and Brisbane.
If there is not a huge preference over which of them we would take it would seem smart move....may well end up with Smith anyway
Plus Stocker, Duursma or Sturt?
Or
Pick 4 and 28 for Wingard and Pick 6?
Guarantees PA of a SA gun.
We might have to throw i Lonie or Dunstan.
Again we get Smith or Max King possibly.

Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
Generally I don’t like this type of strategy.
The chances of getting two guns is pretty... especially with later picks. 4 is good. Do your research and back yourself. If you nail it... you have a once in a generation player.
That said... I don’t mind the above deal

Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
Should trade pick 4 for 2 x top 10 picks if doable. The top 20 runs very deep. Why not get 2 gun kids instead of 1.

Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
I would trade our pick 4 and our future 1st rounder for Carlton's pick 1 this year and their future 2nd rounder so we get Sam Walsh.

Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
I don't mind the OP. It is what might actually make this year's draft exciting with the ability to live trade picks.
IF Walsh & the two Kings go in the first 3, we may get some tempting offers from the two SA clubs if Lukosios is there.
I still want Smith so if we can get a handle on who the Dogs, Lions / Freo / Suns want...maybe Smith may still be available at 6 or even 8.
I would like another pick or two in the top 25 to 30.

Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
I've seen or heard nothing to suggest we got those two picks wrong. I think by the end of their careers they will hold their own in the Top 10 of the 2017 hindsight draft.derby Street wrote: ↑Sat 13 Oct 2018 8:07pmWe had 2 top 10 picks last year How about picking the best available - oh forgot about that little issuetedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Sat 13 Oct 2018 8:01pm Should trade pick 4 for 2 x top 10 picks if doable. Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
We cant attract/buy a gun player for love or money, we have to make our own and keep him.
I know we need a team but it would be nice to get an individual game changer.

Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
Don't trade the pick away for Pete sake. We have all read reports on the top picks by now and on paper any of the top 6 could be superstars. Sam Walsh is gone at 1 most likely and then it gets interesting with Gold coast. Do they take Lukosious, King/s, smith or Rankin. What ever 2 go we are left with a great choice.
I would rather trust or recruitment team and pick wrong rather than trade out the picks and think what could have been

Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
The point being made is that if for us picks 4-8 may be more even than for the SA clubs.....dropping a few spots may get us an extra quality pick or player.
If we don't rank say Max King more than 3-5% higher than his brother....maybe we do a deal because Port has Rankine at %15 more than either of them.
The true power is with Gold coast of course.
I personally think with Lynch and May leaving, they should take the brothers, or Lukosious and Cozee....whatever works in keeping them up there.
Either way that leaves Rankine for 4.....and that is what has the SA clubs interested....the new Andrew McLeod!
Of course we can just take him ourselves and back us in to hold him.
Good position either way.

Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
I'm hooked on picking Rankine, and he certainly won't be around at pick 6 or 8.
But he mightn't be there at pick 4 either.
In which case fugazi's strategy fits the situation extremely well.
Suddenly i feel much better equipped to face the dealing.

Pick 4 for Port's picks 6 & 10 I'd take but not for Adelaide's & & 13

It took 70 games and 4 years for it to become clear that DeGoey is the pick of the bunch from hid draft.derby Street wrote: ↑Sat 13 Oct 2018 8:52pmI would love nothing more than you to be right - however I still wouldn't have minded converting those picks to a Brayshaw, Cerra, Stephenson, RaynerGhost Like wrote: ↑Sat 13 Oct 2018 8:43pmI've seen or heard nothing to suggest we got those two picks wrong. People go way too early on these things.
Hunter Clark will be the best player from that Draft in my opinion. Haven't seen enough of Coffield to judge, but Clark is a superstar.

It takes at least 5 years to play out.
At one stage, Luke Ball would have been ranked ahead of Luke Hodge in that draft.
Big hairy and audacious call on Hunter Clark.
I like it.

Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
Yep, and knowing this may also make the SA clubs more desperate to do something before crunch time.
Also, remember this year for the first time that trading of picks continues after Wednesday’s player trade deadline and doesn’t finish until 16 November. So plenty of time for horse trading of picks/moevements.
Good to see that Foxtel has finally woken up and has had the nightly Trade Lowdown show with Joey and some other turds to give those who are working a good nightly summary of the day’s fun and games.
Love this time of year - hopefully the picks trading continues for a few more weeks to ad to the fun

Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
Excellent post Roger. I don't know a lot about Clark but from the glimpses, I like what I see.
What I do know about Coffield we can bank, like a blue chip stock. He has the drive, the skill, the pace and the determination to do all it takes to succeed. Plus he has some mongrel in him so when he finds his place and his voice, which could be as early as this summer, he will drive the others...he despises losing!

Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
I wouldn't do it, given by 8 the clear crop of guns is gone.
I'd be actually trying to do anything I could to trade down.
McCartin to Freo for Brisbane's 6 ( for Neale).
They want a forward: take Paddy and we'll work with Battle.
And would GC take a deal to give pick 3 to us? Weller, Lonie, Longer, Savage, Newnes, - all the big bodies you want (plus Lonie), and we don't. We pay their salaries for the first year. Anything to clear out the underperformers and get serious about getting extreme talent.

Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
And to make Port desperate you make it known you are very keen on Rankine so he won’t be there by their pick 6
Re: Pick 4 Adelaide and Port
Im only in that mindset if both Rankine and Lukosius are gone or even Walsh (who ive honestly heard mixed reviews about). Trading down would give us room to get Hately, RCD, Duursma or even Stocker.
