I really like Blake.

Between him and Jack Steele as my current favourites.

There are signs he isnt a fav down there
1. intraclub he played for the vfl team
2. didnt get picked for JLT
3. Richo and club have stopped mentioning him re future
4. no lwadership group.

things seem to have gone cold/quiet on Acres.

HOW ABOUT THIS TRADE?
Acres & Parker for CERRA

we should be looking at that. Hopefully parker has good year.

What if Parker end up being a gun?

IMHO Acres has the potential highest upside of anyone on our list baring Max King.
(And Max King is, IMHO, very high risk due to his knee injury specifically, and his body type in general.)

I would only be clearing Blake if he wants out. And fortunately, it seems that he doesn't.

BTW, if the above trade was ever to be considered, at this stage, I would only do it on the condition that they also took Billy.

(I'd also want something back if Parker was part of the deal.)

Give Acres, Billing’s, Sinclair, Dunstan    , McCartin, and Lonie this season to show something or offload them while we can. Hopefully some of them come on.

Interesting observation - I'd add however that pre-2018, Acres seemed to have a rougher time than other players of similar performance with regards to getting into and staying in the top 22.

I get the impression that he has never been rated as highly internal to the club as out... and unfortunately, 2018 wasn't the year we hoped it would be for him.

As far as Acres goes... I really rate the kid but his time is now to really step up. By seasons end he should be every inch a rising star / occasional match winner

Haha. You know I’m big wraps for all the hard work Dunstan has given us unfairly overplayed by richo when focus should have been on developing him. But like the others we need to see him take the next step.

Always wondered how Acres might go with a decent coaching regime- I reckon he has stalled for two seasons so far.

Then so has the whole team

On the back of (hopefully) some momentum from our side this year, Blake will become one of two things; a very good contributor, or the next stage of 'outs' in the rebuild.

Nothing new there obviously, but he deserves a good run at it, and by that I mean stop making him a scapegoat, oh and a fare crack without injury wouldn't hurt

I’d also want to see him in the centre more

Couldn't agree more. I mean - case in point last year. Blake had suspect groins pre-season; hobbled through the first few rounds and bizarrely, was rated by Champion Data as the most improved player in the AFL at by Round 8.

So what did Kingsley and The Dribbler do in the game against Freo ... made him play in the ruck. Whilst Marshall was sitting on the bench. I'll leave that there for you to ponder. Marshall was on the bench (fit) when this took place.

Nek minnit - groins shot ... missed the next 10 games.

Superb coaching.

Not sure that the above is correct. Do you have the correct match? If I recall, Blake played most of the match, getting over 20 possessions, playing on Fyfe for a fair bit. ( who starred). Hurt his groin lunging for a goal off the ground in the last 2 mins, which the club later confirmed. Hickey and Marshall did the rucking, not sure Acres went up in the ruck at all, at the very least didn't get injured. If that's the case nothing to do with coaching. Happy to be corrected.

Talking about Blake (Acres), another Blake immediately comes to mind - Jason Blake.
Jason did okay playing as a small ruckman, picking up his fair share of possessions around the ground. He proved very durable and handy.

Blake Acres was worth trying in the ruck, for the same reason.

(I mean Matthew Lappin and Robert Murphy proved very durable despite their slight builds - and they threw themselves into contests).

Along with some others progressing to experienced AFL footballers

And in my opinion we have deficiencies including particularly ball usage (so players such as Geary, Ross and some others who can not deliver quickly and accurately by foot over distance) and, as acknowledged by most, a deficiency in our rucking resource particularly with the trading of Hickey (to West Coast, the premier club no less) because that leaves us with Pearce with a handful of games experience, Marshall ditto and Longer whose impact on games has been what it has been, confirmed by statistics compared to the statistics of other ruckmen in the competition

For expressing those opinions there are the responses of “Stonecold” such as we see on this thread directed not at my contribution but directed at me - an identity on a forum such as this so completely unknown apart from a forum “name”

So nobody knows who is on the other end of the “name”

Except that my opinion of the serial stalker “Stonecold” is that she/he is a demented f*** wit who drives contributors from this site

<1 week ban for blatant abuse of a poster>
I agree with your comment, TtT, about occasional users / posters on this site such as myself and reasons for perusing SS posts, in my case anyway and numerous others whose names I don't see posting on SS anymore. I think there are some posters who turn a lot of the posts into abuse sessions. It's depressing reading. These keyboard people should be shanghaid into their own forum and not our much loved SAINTSATIONAL forum! Thanks to BFUSA for trying to do something about it.

I have the same opinion / hopes re Blake Acres as TtT and wish he was back in the team in ANY ROLE. We haven't anyone, in my opinion, with his skill set.

Go you good things....!!!
