I've probably been Paddy McCartin's biggest knocker over the past couple of years but for me the best thing to come out of yesterday's game was Paddy's performance and the potential upside to his game.
Let's face it, he's been overweight the whole time he's been at the club, but now he's trimmed down considerably and it's made a hell of a difference. He's moving a lot more freely, more mobile, greater second and third efforts, his kicking seems to have improved out of sight and he seems a lot more confident in his marking.
I am just so wrapt for him and look forward to seeing how he progresses this year....the kid's gunna make it

Did you tell a poster that he had no idea? If so YES. You commented negatively on a poster and you got a 1 day ban.
I wish the thank wasn't so close to the quote button. Nevertheless, my opinion is the rule of thumb should be, if you wouldn't say it to a stranger in a pub, don't!
A thankless job BfUSA, I do appreciate that position. All situations are different. A lot of the carry on after an initial post & reply should be handled in a PM. If not willing to do that and prefer to hijack threads, then step in.
Agree with thread, Paddy showed more last weekend than I've seen or appreciated. I hope this continues and he continues to gain in confidence and output. Consistency is his greatest opponent at the moment. I hope he proves the knockers (me) wrong.

I do think it’s a staggering double-standard that posters masquerading as optimists who attack the character of anyone voicing perfectly warranted criticism of the club goes unpunished, especially as the definition of “negative” has become so broad here.
Maybe you can enlighten me as to who you think is included in this “group of posters?” Who obviously must have an idea, as it clearly touched a nerve!
Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

No double standard at all.

It is irrelevant to me who is in our out of either of these “groups” the fact is it is against the rule to comment in posters.
There is no rule against being super positive.
There is no rule against being negative unless it is abusive and demeaning etc to the player / club official.
I hope that this clears up your perception that there is a double standard.

Apologies. New rules and new world. I didn't really mean to single out any group...I more just found it fitting. I copped the 1 day ban and fair enough. Rules are rules.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Mmm. A slight knock (the sort Nick received many of in every match) and he's out of the game. Not good. There would appear to be an ongoing issue. Pretty soon, a doctor will have to give him (and us) the bad news.

Unfortunately, I can't see him playing many more games with the level of fragility around his condition. He will get battered in the head week in week out, as soon as he starts dominating games, the backman will do a "late spoil" and it will be game over.
No point trying to build a forward line around him. King (when fit), Marshall, Membrey.

I’ve always backed Paddy, but after all the positives we’ve been hearing over the preseason about this ‘clicking’ and ‘corners being turned’, he made it through one and a half games before copping another knock and going off the field.
It’s got to the point where we can’t rely on him getting through a game, let alone putting a long streak of games together. The fact it was a practise game is irrelevant, as it would have been the exact same result if it was a normal game, he always must be handled ‘conservatively’.
I like Paddy, and I think he looked great in the first 1.5 games, but let’s just see if he manages to get up for round one. I get the feeling this is going to be a recurring theme.
All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.
Agree that if becomes a dominant forward , he will get a "hit to the head" spoil. Did anyone notice today how soft he was on the mark. Both goals came from free kicks that he should have marked or at least a solid attempt.
I'm sorry but I cant see the optimism.
Bruce, Membury and Marshall all looked more capable overhead

I agree Ted but that is the most concerning thing it was only a slight knock but you could tell straight away that he was in trouble . He has looked so much better in the 2 games he has played but if that's all it takes to concuss you he is in serious trouble . His health is way more important than footy. IMO only he should seriously look at the long term affects of multiple concussions & make an informed decision about his long term future.
Too fragile. Poor technique. Will play a few this year but not a long term prospect. But to be fair nearly out marked Caleb Daniels a couple of times. Move on selectors, Paddy needs to fit the team not the other way round. Another expensive choice to be written down to actual market value. The club's decision making is no longer laughable and needs to be accountable.
I think most would agree that Bruce and Membrey have already made it as very good AFL footballers (both were fantastic today). I am not confident that we made the right decision to keep Paddy when there was talk that another club was interested.
How can you continue to give the guy opportunities when he can't see out matches? I'd rather play 2 rucks and have Bruce and Membrey as permanent tall forwards with Marshall drifting down to cause more havoc.
Having 4 mid size or small forwards also fits in with the modern game and Paddy is a liability when it comes to defensive pressure and locking the ball in our forward line
