Reckon he Stan’s above most packs.

I reckon he can make some pretty soft efforts for a guy his size, he an impressive athlete, good hands, good kick but he’s not a huge fan of contact
?

Standing there in a hole, waiting for a 5 man pack to descend on you and crash into you is referred to as 'standing under the pack'.

I thought he was a tad unlucky tonight. Got himself in the right position to take those marks. at least one was not given that should have been. Was given a terrible hospital handpass by someone right on the last line of defence, did really well for a big fella to squirt out a handball but it bounced up and perfectly ricocheted off a Melbourne kneecap in front of a pouncing Demon player..for a goal.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

The free against Carlisle was soft, but it was definitely undisciplined. He was riled up because I think it was Petty from the Dees had just made the injector sign to him. Sitting in the front row in the forward pocket we had a clear view. Didn't Mitchell get in trouble for same act?

Class player who is the most important part of our structure - including because of his voice and direction to our inexperienced defenders

Leads by example

No, I mean the common football term that has been used for decades 'standing under the pack'.

And he does on a weekly basis. Even did it when he had broken ribs last year.

That's also how he damaged his back which required the surgery.

Couldn't agree more. He is recovering from back surgery and playing AFL at the most elite level - in the same year! Amazing he is even on the field. A class player and very important to us.

Another small sign of the Ratten influence with Big Jake having a good last quarter for us.

Ratten will get him playing the best footy of his career next year. Could win All Australian nomination if he stays fit imo...just have to hope that the coaching selection committee give Ratts an interview

This is an extremely accurate post. Carlisle definitely has some redeeming qualities. This myth that he's some type of hard man who's a bit loose is getting a bit hard to stomache.

He's very good, but he could be so much better.

If his turning circle was a bit less like the Queen Mary it'd be something.

He’s a top player. Fairly mobile for his size and his attitude can also work for us, just like Lonie.

Lonie, Snake & Ratten have all taken the vanilla out of St Kilda

I wondered what had gotten to him.
Bit of a low shot from Petty.

In what sense?

He could be just a generally better player? Or that he needs to be harder?

Jake is a bit of a nutter which is just his personality but he won't want to pull that stunt in a decider or final.

Ratts seemed to pull his head in at 3 quarter time and has obviously coached and played with players like that. I have too.

Here’s an unbiased review of that free kick from The Age.

“When Demons teammate Harrison Petty got into some push and shove with Carlisle after the goal, the Saint thrust a fist at Petty, and although it barely glanced his uper body, he threw his head back theatrically and sucked in the nearby field umpire, winning a free kick and making it a double goal.”

If it was caught on camera he would be in trouble. But I don’t think it was. Plus, it’s Carlisle.

Silly thing to do right in front of the umpire but wasn't he provoked?

He’s got Tatts and he’s a big guy... doesn’t that make him a hard man?!

Is it coincidence that we started playing better when we added an A grader to the team. We've missed him big time.

Love that he brings a bit of swagger, it clearly rubs off on his teammates

We lost the first four games when he came back.

Maybe it’s Langlands.
