"Hunts the ball" to me refers to someone who pursues the ball hard, and with intent - even if they sometimes don't end up with it - i.e., it's the opposite of someone who hangs back and just waits for the easy pickings, an easy handball receive.
Hunter Clark is aptly named.
I will certainly not be correcting you here :)

Are you serious?!!
You trying to be funny or are you just ignorant of football vernacular??
I suggest that it is literally ignorant football vernacular.

It makes no sense.
Well I was hoping you were just being funny. You people doing life a little hard atm? Take a breath and relax :)

FWIW I want all Saints players hunting the footy in 2020. Yep, that'll be just fine :)

I'd prefer they catch it.

Not sure how we're expected to score if we're hunting the ball the whole time.

It's been a long year Barry  I hope whatever they do with the footy next season, that it's exciting! Be it catching or hunting

Back on topic, he has good wraps on him and it will nice to have a quality inside mid who reads the play well and knows where to be when the ball is coming near him as well as one who can do something with it once he gets it l.

But don't expect him to be great day one if give him half the season to find his feet even at vfl level then a few games in AFL before his lack of fitness kicks in. That's not a knock on him but few first players run out the season

I guess his form last year suggestS he ran out the year pretty strongly. I think confidence might have been the problem which seemed to click into gear once the head coach changed hands and he found himself smashing it in the VFL and returned to play a consistent role in the 1's.

Hunting the footy is a term for a mid who goes for the pill and doesn’t sit out or make position on the ground, the just chase the footy. Often with disregard for their opponent.

Dangerfield is the best example of a ball hunter in the AFL.
He straight lines it.

So basically it makes no sense and is yet another in a very long line of s*** footy vernacular made up by someone of very low intellect and minimal comprehension skills yet for some reason gets repeated?

So it's not a skill as such, but a preference?

So it's not a compliment?

I just can’t believe some of the trolls in this forum... you give some serious intel from within the club and people are commenting on standard football terms used commonly in the industry and commenting on its literal meaning!!!
So terms like “ on the spread”... “two way runner”... “ inside mid “.. “ outside mid”... “ p” plays tall”... “ plays the press well”....
How would you comment on those for their literal English meaning?!!.
It’s true what they say want to connect with all types come on the Internet...
