The umpires tonight

Post: # 1855010Post George27 »

Now I am aware that a few of my Saintsational brethren have been critical from time to time of the abilities and even the motivations of umpires, but surely you must admit tonight that they did a good job. Very few questionable decisions , and had the guts to pay the frees to us that were there. We won the free kick count, and kicked 4 from frees and another from a free that we got at half forward and pumped into the goal square- all of them correct decisions. They were not influenced by the noise of affirmation.

I know that is their job, to get decisions right, but given they get called out when they fail, I acknowledge that tonight they were good. Even the video umpire was on the mark !

Don’t love the new interpretation of the holding the ball and deliberate rules but they were at least consistent tonight

Generally speaking good, not nearly as overly officious as last week which is no small miracle given the feral crowd. If anything I think we got a fairer go, surprisingly. Guess that apology during the week rubbed off.

The fact that you could concentrate on the play with no distractions means the did a pretty good job. Didn't see any dummy spits from the players, that says plenty.

Well done umps.

The Port fans were furious that the umpires did not cheat a win for them.

They gave us a fair run tonight. Probably still feeling guilty for the disgraceful performance last week.

Consistent which was a welcome change.

Massive turn around to the blatant garbage over the last three weeks.

No I don’t. It’s amazing that in a week we’ve learnt to tackle, contest the ruck and spoil correctly.

Yeah so why has it taken a f****** pandemic for them to be level and measured at these grounds.

Priceless

Just like that, the conspiracy lifts...

I get it - those clever buggers, this one was just to throw everybody off the scent so that the grand plan is not exposed. Nice.

We get a game where it’s actually umpired pretty well perhaps even a bit our way doesn’t make up for the biased rubbish from the likes of Margetts Foote.

Why are there so many people out on remand in Adelaide?

I came into the smoko room in the last qtr to check the score to see the slo mo review of the Membrey goal. Didn’t know the circumstances of it but I watched and said that’s a goal and a second later it was given. It clearly goes from hand to foot then goal
