Thought that just popped into my head...

Is Ross the guy that ultimately gets pushed out by Hannerbery?
Of the two, I prefer Ross to Dan as I know the former will play more than 6 games a year but Steele, Crouch, Hannebery and Ross may be too So so

If one has to make way... well Dan is locked in and can’t go anywhere

IMHO it's more to do with how the coaching panel value his output.
Seemingly they've decided his greatest worth to the team is as a tagger and he's being paid (contract) as the leading mid.
His disposal has been very ordinary when under pressure and going forward is probably not what we'd be looking for. My guess is that if we're not bringing in another quality mid then the decision has been made for Bytel to step into that 'inside mid' role?
BTW I was very impressed with Bytel in the glimpses we had of him.

Could be a salary cap dump to try and get others in.
Yes - he is. He signed his most recent contract pre-Hannebery and the only other players on significant coin at the time were: -

Robbo
Carlisle
Billings
Steven

I think this development (and make no mistake, I'll be delighted if it actually happens) is to dump a huge whack of salary as much as it is free-up a spot on the list for another inbound recruit

Dildo has offered us a suck.
We told him we will have Merrett.

So now Seb knows our facilities are better, that the end season interview was fair dinkum and now he will have to put a big preseason in for us and become better.

I like Seb & have no idea on what he's being paid. He has been a stalwart for the St.Kilda football club in a era that to be honest was pretty average & Seb was a shining light, won 2 B&F's & to his credit stuck fat when times were thin. What eventuates out of the speculation I have no clue & would be more than happy for him to stay but in the same breath if he thinks he has a better opportunity elsewhere & it works for both parties do it.

Not a huge fan of Seb but it would still be sad to see him leave as he has been a stalwart of the club through some tough times. Be hard to see him leave just as we have turned the corner.

Not a bad decision to look at trading him now why he is worth something. remember how we held Jack Steven for one season too many and his values dropped like a stone. Not saying he will go but silly not to at least aske the question

He does however Tim was quick to point out he had not heard anything about Seb Ross

Yeah, but these were Garry Lyon's comments and Tim said specifically he hadn't heard about this.

I didn’t see many games...
I go on the vibes, blogs, commentary and my own hunches about it....including how biased I may be ....

So I shouldn’t comment, you might say. Fair enough. Speaking as a fan though, on the outer, seeing Seb at Essendon getting a tour, feels a bit like seeing your ex-out with ‘the new guy’, after you dumped her because she just didn’t inspire you.

Meloncholy ..and a hint of self-pity too....

Damn it...

Are we allowed to keep the list open to players and servants like Seb? We made all the excuses for keeping our captain on the field.

So I ask the experts.....

1) how many games do you supposed Seb is good for if he stays, as he is now, giving everything, but peaked in performance?
2) are there things that Seb could do, even better than others, potentially, in a new role? (I assume he isnt quick enough to challenge Kent and his 9 disposal games)
3) what do you suppose it does for culture, morale etc., for him to go? (You can use other teams as examples here too)
4) and wile I’m here, how many games is Hanners now good for, before injury/retirement relegates him to the bit player he has been thus far - except, on a permanently and understood basis? (Sorry about my English, I am teaching it overseas.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

If he leaves it will be salary cap related. He has been solid in a run with role in the back half of this year and earns his spot in the best 22. Don't think he has much trade value at this stage of his career. 3rd rounder or pick swap.

Seb finished off the year well and was at his best in the finals.

He has alot of value IMO, excellent fitness, good size, clearances disciplined and by all accounts trains and prepares at elite levels. He is a determined and serious dude who many clubs would appreciate on and off field.

It is strange how ordinary he was in the first half of the year. I think the influx of new talent pushed his buttons and he took a while to adjust.

An early second, or we keep.

If he is our 22nd player on the list, we are a good side.

If it came down to him or Sinclair.....I would actually choose Sincs for his neat skills and greater upside.

Does Hawthorn want him? Clarkson always seems to find 5 votes for Sebby in the coaches award

So Gags has confirmed that Seb didn't tour the Bombers facility and that he will be on the list next year.

I'm glad to hear that.

Seb was never going anywhere . It was just the usual wishful bulls*** from the usual haters and its the same each year.

Same goes for Billings.

I don't know what motivates some except they must have someone to denigrate, a whipping boy. Been that way since Adam was a boy.

I hate trade week on this forum. Too much made up bulls*** for my liking.
