Official now- signed for a couple more years. The players and staff are as close knit as they were in the 05-10 years

Yep, thanks Tony. Always better when you are posting.

Anyway - I assume that means that Wilkie has been moved to the main list?

Fantastic news. Looked like a ten year player from day one.

A lot of so called talent scouts really missed the obvious with Callum, to our long term advantage, thankfully.

Great news about Wilke...

Even better news that the team is close knit.

Thanks Tony.

Gun. We made off like bandits with Wilkie pick.

I was saying to a mate the other day, with Wilkie running around its like Dempster never left. Sean was such a great lock down defender and Wilkie showing all the same signs.

Congrats to all involved. Great pick up.

He provides that first kick out of defence which is critical to the way we set up.

Great news.

How good is our onfield leadership now.

What I love about this story is how Lethean and company identified a problem and then provided a solution. There's ya making of a professional organisation capable of success right there.

Can the season please start already, I just can't wait to see our 2021 season unfold.

I think the credit should go to the state league scout (Toce?)

Not sure what Lethlean has to do with recruiting or development?

Wilkie was a very astute selection, as Highmore maybe as well.

Parker not so good

Hind not as good either, but not a dead set failure

We took mature age recruits Parker, Young & Hind in the draft with all now gone.
Wilkie then taken as a rookie.

Interesting to know if we rated those 3 higher than Wilkie at the time or if they were confident Wilkie was not on the radar of any other club at the time.

Sinclair, Marshall & Wilkie all off the rookie list.
Any more current best 22 off the rookie list?

Some may debate the best 22 element but, our 2021 co-captain was pick No. 58 in the 2006 Rookie Draft

Geary would be amongst StKs best ever value recruits

Late Rookie Pick
200+ games
Multiple times top 5 in B&F (inc a RU)
Captain for 5 seasons

Pound for pound Wilkie is the best defender at the club.
Shame we didn’t draft Marlion Pickett instead of Robbie Young...I was disappointed with that.

Agreed, would be our best value recruit by a fair margin only challenged by Milne.

Some others off the top of my head excluding trades:
- Milne off the rookie list among the best of all time small forwards.
- Sam Fisher B&F, AA from a pick in the mid 50's.
- Clint Jones was a fair rookie
- Jack Steven & Aussie Jones were picks in the 40's
- Andrew Thompson was a pick in the 60's or 70's

that's why I said Lethers and Company, rembering Lethers famously stated we lacked onfield leadership after only having his feet under the desk for short while, he also identified the structure of the footy department needed to be changed and for postions in that structure to be fillied by the right people. Lethers is in charge of recruiting and development via the managment structure he put in place.

Lethers moved on that incompetent idiot, Elshaug. For that move alone Lethers deserves high praise. Cutting out the cancer that bedevilled the club for 8 years and ruined our list.

I hear the trout is now working his magic at the dopers. That should keep them in the bottom four for a while.

Elshaug was still working at StK when Wilkie was drafted.

Probably crossed over.

Trout left at the end of 2018 and Wilkie was drafted in the 2019 rookie draft which would have been November or December 2018.
