Max King turns down goal kicking help.
https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/ ... 2b07024cce
A Herald Sun article states that Max had reached out to Matthew Lloyd after the Geelong game, and was due to have a session with Lloyd last Wednesday.
But on the Tuesday night after a meeting with Saints coaches Jarryd Roughead and David Rath, King suddenly cancelled the Lloyd catch-up.
Seems that Roughead & Rath know better, well that worked a treat Saturday night. He had the exact routine that hasnt been working and as a result the kids confidence is completely shot. Im begginning to wonder that everything this so called expert Rath touches turns to poop?

There may have been a good reason that he had to cancel but let's just trust the Herald Sun shall we.

Probably worried it might have taken the edge off his accuracy.

I feel really sorry for Max at the moment. He just needs some time in the 2s. Let him dominate for a few weeks, find the form and enjoy the game.
He looks lost and he looks mentally depleted. Needs to regain the love for the game, mentally he’s shot at the moment
Also let him have a kick lloydy- I mean ffs st Kilda

Of course, COVID 19 lockdown would have absolutely nothing to do with it. Would it?

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

To be fair whatever Rath’s done has worked so far - he’s only kicked 3 points since the Geelong game.

Re: Max King turns down goal kicking help.
But Mark Robinson wrote it, give the young cadet the benefit of the doubt, highly unlikely he'd know how to get in touch with Lloyd to clear it up.

Re: Max King turns down goal kicking help.
Been saying it for years regarding our goal kicking, we clearly aren’t doing enough at training.
And this is another clear example of the medicos getting in the way, players who can’t kick a goal might as well not be playing, so I’d risk the extra 1% chance of a hamstring injury for them to get better at it!
I think Fev said he used to have 500 shots a week, and had to do a lot of them behind the clubs back down at a local park.

Couldn't see any difference in King's technique during the Roos game.
Great work, Saints.

Re: Max King turns down goal kicking help.
Issue might be general timidity. Lloydy could recount how he got 6 weeks for whacking Sewell. But Max, don't go silly.
Too many cooks, some lefties like Lloyd, might not help kicking yips. Particularly Pete Evans.
Just go for it Max, it will come. Saw plenty of key forwards miss on weekend, apparently not so easy and even Colman Medalists miss.

Re: Max King turns down goal kicking help.
Geez us even if it’s a confidence thing as Loyd coached him as a junior.......you’d do it wouldn’t you??
I mean........Loyd if nothing else had a definite routine and was a better kick than Roughead
King didn’t look at all confident against north...
I’d be trying everything strange intervention from the club of true

We really are an absolute rabble and always will be!
Just another stupid decision in the long list that this club has made over many years

When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

If Max was doing well and confident that his current coaches could assists him, he wouldn't have asked for help
If they don't get it, then I think our club is doomed.
