The spitter

Post: # 1921527Post B.M »

Or sometimes called Genius

A forward that would start across HB and ‘spit’ forward to lose an opponent in the process. In that situation the Ruckman always tapped toward where running (left or right and backwards)

6-6-6 meant that that became obsolete after 2019

But Richmond came up with a variation.
Dustin Martin
A player who can start in the centre square, and regardless of what happens after the bounce, he pushed hard forward, while his opponent followed the ball. This is coupled with a HF, who regardless of what happens at Centre bounce pushes straight into the midfield (Kane Lambert). The old switcheroo. Dusty, who is a mid who doesn’t defend would then become an offensive weapon. Utilising his clearance strength and forward ability.

Now Essendon are doing exactly the same with
Jake Stringer

At times Petracca does it at Melbourne too, but he is generally more traditional

This is different to being a mid, and resting forward and lining up i50

I believe we have a player capable of playing this role!!!!

Starting centre bounce, and pushing forward from the clearance and being dangerous i50

What about The swallower, is he a backman.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I can spit further than all the players.
It is all in understanding the science of spitting.

I thought this was going to be a thread about Mark Murphy.

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

Correct BUSA

Gresham is two things

An elite clearance player

A dangerous forward

Gresham lacks

Engine, defensive game

This role is perfect for him.

I’m surprised someone didn’t say Ray Shaw!

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Didn’t they just call this “cheating” back in the day. Try get the easy one over the top?

Looks good when you win the clearance, not so good if you lose it…

That’s the point

It’s a designated cheat!

Running forward from clearance before it is won by your team.

Yep works well if you’ve got faith in your gun midfield.

Stevie J and Dusty won a few Norm Smiths using this method.

No he's a midfielder who pushes hard backward to use his elite second-to-the-ball defending and ball-losing ability, while a half back pushes up hard into the midfield.
Our best potential swallower is probably Ross, with Clark pushing through the midfield to cover for him.

Jack Steele could be ours, be we are too reliant having him in the midfield. A super fit Gresham or even Hannebrey.

Or Judson Clarke when we draft him this year....?

The other would be Tim Taranto when we get him to the club ( dream).

Jack S wins the footy at the coalface - prefer him not to spit forward.

It could be rotated, I think Gresh is a good option

I think the set play should be considered
