Re: Toby Greene - Nearest the pin
Hold off on prizes for guessing 3 weeks for the Greene idiot, the AFL may well appeal the suspension, they want their 6 weeks.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Toby Greene - Nearest the pin
If there is any appeal then additional charges should be laid.
- Dobbing on a Swans player to the umpire: " he f' ing dived"; un-Australian Rules, and
- Poor verbal expression, there is a far better set of eloquent terms for faking a falling movement ( e.g. going for an Oscar) than having to resort to the lazy all purpose faux outrage term f' ing.
Overuse of that classic term alone should also carry a penalty premium. We don't want to make it into another meaningless hyperbole term do we. Might need it for a close loss next season.
Suggested additional sentence: two weeks listening to the eloquence and impeccable logic on display in Bryan Taylor calling Richmond Collingwood games and Hamish, James B and Squeaky Hudson doing Essendon games. Although, yes, that might be too harsh.

Re: Toby Greene - Nearest the pin
What started out as a media beatup has ended up with poor Toby being figuratively burnt at the stake.
A real pile on. Initially the maggot had the same view as at least some of us. Nothing in it. After the matter gets highlighted in the media by people who should know better but who long ago sold their souls to a very suspect organisation, to put it mildly, the maggot
appears to have changed his mind and his evidence appears to reflect that mind change.
Was he improperly influenced? Who can say.

Are you seriously saying players shouldn’t be penalised for aggressively making contact with an umpire??saynta wrote: ↑Tue 31 Aug 2021 9:01pm What started out as a media beatup has ended up with poor Toby being figuratively burnt at the stake.

Strikes me as a reasonable sentence for TB.
And no death metal for that duration. That'll hit him where it hurts.

Re: Toby Greene - Nearest the pin
Hung by AFL's media puppy dogs and everybody who's brainwashed by their propaganda. Sure Toby did the wrong thing but so did all the other thugs who walk away with token fines week after week. But, but, but this is different - it's the umpire! Yes it was the umpire who didn't even report him. puzzlingly, It's many of same people who have been calling for a lynching who have incredible fixations on umpire decisions and hatred who are the main culprits. Now the media can pat themselves on the back for giving Dangerfield and Selwood a bit of a chance to hold up the cup.

Re: Toby Greene - Nearest the pin
Aaaaahhh. Yep agree. He can claim it was an accident all he likes. Watching the footage he made zero attempt to avoid contact.
Re TB. No I don't feel that's the right decision and giving him a send-off ("bye-bye") was better left unsaid.
Rules are good but context, poster's longevity and history need to attenuate the application of the rules when appropriate IMO.

The AFL is going to appeal the Toby decision.
They are acting like a spoilt 2 year old, stamping their foot and throwing a tantrum because they didn't get what the asked for. Flogs.

Re: Toby Greene - Nearest the pin
I kind of agree but can see the AFL's point if Greene was actually guilty of the severity of the Tribunal's findings. It should have been more under those banners.
Three in the end is probably right in the balance of opinions. I thought one week, maybe a fine.
I'll say again, the umpires need to stop talking to players as well, it only encourages a player's belief they are open to being spoken with. Umpires need to go to their corners as soon as the bell rings, do not hang around to engage. Do not stand in a direct line to where players are walking to their huddle.
This is not an excuse for Greene's actions, he could have walked around him but the umpire should not have been there, engaging in conversation.

Re: Toby Greene - Nearest the pin
AFL complaining 3 weeks is not enough is their way of telling GWS don't appeal.
Appeal and you might get Toby to play in a grand final.
But if you do appeal we will be demanding the full 6 weeks, so do you want to take the risk.

Re: Toby Greene - Nearest the pin
GWS had already said they won't be appealing, Gil thinks a 3 week suspension sends the wrong message to the feral football leagues, might give them ideas.
