Ladder...

Post: # 1969766Post WellardSaint »

We beat WCE
Then Hawks

Tigers lose to Lions, then Power in Adelaide.
We climb over them into 9th spot.

I can't juggle the AFL App and this forum on my phone, but I think that's right.
Gonna be tough to prise Doggies out of 8th spot though.
Woulda been better if Dees had won tonight.

Dogs play Cats, then Dockers.
Should lose both, probably.

The dogs winning against Melbourne has all but snuffed out any chance we had.
We pretty much have to win every game as even if we win 4 of 5 will most likely miss finals with 13 wins.
The dogs will likely only lose to Geelong on the way home.
We have no one else to blame but ourselves at the end of the day

What? We can't blame the fixture or the AFL or the umpires?? That sucks!

In this forum, on 6 May this year,
Sunny Ernie/CityWest said we'd finish 9th this yr, missing out on %, with Port in 8th.

I said in response we'd end up 10-12th.
I stand by that.
Cats at Cattery too hard.
Lions too fierce as well.

I take no pleasure in this, I loved our nice wins vs Cats, Hawks, Tigers.

We aren't ready to challenge for the last week in September ...no where near it

Better off finishing 11th or 12th and getting a potential top 10 draft pick

We'll beat the Weagles but I just hope Port, and Richmond, and Gold Coast finish above us at the end of the year

...come to think of it, maybe Hawthorn could too. We could get pick 6 or 7 or 8

Hawks play us next week and Suns play Weagles so it's possible

We are not ready to challenge on any given weekend, finals are a fantasy based on last couple of months - no urgency, no skills, no smarts, no teamwork.
Look at the ladder and honestly say we are better than Port and Gold Coast let alone those above. Hawks are coming too. Would not be surprised, but would be disappointed if Big Boy gives Rowan a bath in a couple of weeks.
We need a real reset, whatever shape that takes. Players just are not having a go. Coach seems clueless, if passionate. CEO and Director of Football invisible. Great player like Max just turning up. It is pitiful. See Naughton and Ugle-Hagen last night, Bevo can get them going alright.

What is this ladder you speak of, and why are we worried about this thing called finals...more pure than fantasy land. The wheels fell off 2 to 3 weeks ago. The biggest of white flags was waved last game against the Dogs, did you see it...a club official ran out onto the ground at 3 quarter time and waved it furiously at the team huddle.

I predict that if we win our next 9 games, we'll be Premiers.

Port, GCS and Hawks have more individual talent in their lists, than we have.
And the players+coaches know how to use their strengths.
They seem to have a belief and pride that sometimes evades them, but sometimes gets them humming along and winning.

We had something work in Rd 2, 3, and against Hawks n Cats.
It clicked. We played as a team.
Recently we've gone back to the normal Saints brand of just pulling on a jumper and letting things happen in hope, rather than taking charge.

After the Cats game, some media were saying our rucks were the 2nd best in the comp.

Now look at us. Arguably worse than Norf
