Lachie Whitfield
Rumours are he is a chance.
If we can get him on 4 years at approx 750k
It’s worth a look.?

Re: Lachie Whitfield
It is amazing how Whitfield's and Hill's stats almost exactly match up ... even metres gained, their uncontentested and contested possessions, disposal efficiency, etc...

Do the footywire comparison thing between Hill and Newnes (career) if you really want to puke!

Re: Lachie Whitfield
class ball user but injury prone .
Proper medical done NOT by StKilda staff first and then to me yes as big fan when he was up and running. Unlike Hill doesn't need space

Re: Lachie Whitfield
If it was Whitfield or Hill, I'd take Whitfield especially if it saved us $150K a year. But no giving up picks because for GWS to let Whitfield go they are shedding their salary cap, nothing more.

Re: Lachie Whitfield
Yeah, I don't think that Hill would have kicked that long, match-winning goal from the boundary.whiskers3614 wrote: ↑Wed 07 Sep 2022 1:32pmLies, damn lies and statistics....samoht wrote: ↑Wed 07 Sep 2022 11:27am It is amazing how Whitfield's and Hill's stats almost exactly match up ... even metres gained, their uncontentested and contested possessions, disposal efficiency, etc...

I think Hill has been very good in at least half the matches this year.
We need a couple more creative playmakers like him who can run. Whitfield would be welcome, afaic.
De Goey too ... the more the merrier.
We'd be a different team, altogether - with the addition of two more line-breakers of their calibre.
We'd be kicking 20 goals on a regular basis - and everyone will be crediting BR for his new running and attacking game plan. .

Re: Lachie Whitfield
Whitfield is 28 and signed to end 2027, don't think he's either desirable nor likely to come to Moorabbin.

Re: Lachie Whitfield
I'm hoping that we'll see the sense of recruiting and drafting young talent - and that we'll just be concentrating on that.
Plan for the long term.
This talk of De Goey, etc... has me wondering. I'm hoping it is just talk.
But, if we are going to go short term with recycled players - then we should go full bore, I reckon - and get whatever we need to maximise our chances.
Just to get it out of our system.
If we are only going to end up with De Goey - if he's our only big, gettable player - then I wouldn't be doing it, as it won't be enough.
It won't bring us to Shangri-La.

Re: Lachie Whitfield
Is another Hannebery, he has hardly played the lasy 2 seasons with injury. He is a huge risk that like Hanners his body is cooked.

Didn't he play 18 this year? 3 more than Hanners played in 4 years with us.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 07 Sep 2022 6:34pm Is another Hannebery, he has hardly played the lasy 2 seasons with injury. He is a huge risk that like Hanners his body is cooked.

Re: Lachie Whitfield
I kind of hope we are now only being used by De Goey's manager for leverage & we are smart enough to play along without being caught with the last bid.

Just saw that sorry! I thought he was out for large chunks of the year, but I guess thats how much interest I have in GWS.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Wed 07 Sep 2022 6:44pmDidn't he play 18 this year? 3 more than Hanners played in 4 years with us.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 07 Sep 2022 6:34pm Is another Hannebery, he has hardly played the lasy 2 seasons with injury. Re: Lachie Whitfield
So rather thana true mid that we really really need we would gain another outside player.
Meanwhile the Tigers say gain Taranto as their replacement for Cotchin. Taranto to consume the Tiger's current first two picks of 12 and 19.

Re: Lachie Whitfield
If I recall correctly he was keen to come home after the “mishap” and one of the Clark/ Coffield picks plus a late shuffle would have done the deal.
He was pretty down on GWS at the time.
Don’t know why but we wouldn’t do the deal.
He was AA at the time I think.

Honestly when is the Saints next premiership team...you still have to get good players to build the team even if they are not in the so called window.

Re: Lachie Whitfield
Whitfield is a big no for me. Why would we look to move Hill out and bring in a very similiar player on similiar $$$?
