I like that jumper with candy stripes on the long sleeves too there Dave.

Was Bryan Mynot no2? And Garry Sidebottom?

Was Stephen Newport no1? And Frankie Peckett?

St Kilda has has some strange number choices.

Trivia Question

Who was the best player to where the highest number at St Kilda.
(Don’t say Shane Grambeau, it is surely higher than that? Maybe 50s?)

Wear the f is my brain.

Since Keeler and Phillipou are the only ones wearing socks and sandals it looks like SA is still 50 years behind the times!

why don't we ever see numbers higher than 44 become cool also...55, 66, 77, 88, 99.

66 is an obvious cool number, imagine if the unthinkable happened and we won a 2nd flag and there was a player wearing 66.

From memory, the AFL came out a few years ago and said that clubs couldn’t go higher than 50 for player numbers. Couldn’t remember the reasoning, but something to do with it wasn’t needed.
It’s also why permanently retiring numbers (like spuds #2) doesn’t happen like it does in American sports, because we wouldn’t be left with many numbers.
I think the VFL start with 51? For non afl aligned players.

If #2 is in temporary hibernation due to the Spud factor, I think a great fit would be Cal Wilkie if he want to wear it.

Wilkie embodies everything about a clubman, selfless, humble, team oriented, durable and a very, very good player.
