Who will be sub? - rd 2
Having failed in my prediction of the sub last week (Sharman) I figure I may as well embarrass myself again, but to lessen the blow will include my logic this time:
Windhager - No. Because if he was fit he would be an auto inclusion.
Peris and Campbell - No. I exclude these as one would expect an emergency to be a versatile player, i.e. more of a utility who could fill a hole back or fwd. Perhaps Campbell has an edge here because we only have the one ruck and sitting Marshall up fwd or in backline late in the game has merit.
That leaves Highmore - so my tip is Highmore for tonight's sub.
(My logic for tipping Sharman last week was because I thought Camaniti would be exhausted after 3 quarters of AFL, plus Coops could also fill a role down back)

I thought Windhager had been pronounced fit. On that basis, I'd expect it to be Windhager.

Nope. Highmore is named at Fullback today in Southport, playing for Sandy.

Damn. That makes me zip from 2. (I'm glad the betting agencies don't have a ticket on this)

So instead of a full game of watching Windy pants Bont he gets eased in for a quarter of footy. Still doesn't quite add up to me.

I recon Buttler would have to play with his eyes closed and kick some own goals not to get a game over the next month or so...we literally have no players who can take his spot.

Re: Who will be sub? - rd 2
I think some assume wrongly that we could do a straight swap of Sharman for Butler.
Putting that silly idea to one side, there would be the option of playing Gresham exclusively as a small forward. But the guy is bloody useful when he has spells in the middle, so I’d see that as quite a loss. Nevertheless, assuming no injuries (a risky assumption of course) someone will have to come out next week so that both Windy and Ross can start. If not Butler, then who?

I think it was telling Ross subbed him
He’s on notice

Could that question be largely answered by who could come of the injury list next to be available for selection, to use the words of Ross in his presser on Thursday, we will be holding our breath for at least a month.meher baba wrote: ↑Sat 25 Mar 2023 4:07pmI think some assume wrongly that we could do a straight swap of Sharman for Butler.

To put that quandary into context, Sandy looked like a D grade ammos side against SouthPort today.
Let's just hope for no injuries tonight.

Yeah I heard it was a flip of the coin between Peris and Windy but the coaches felt Peris could help Sandy beat SouthPort.

Yeah they were gonna get him to do a Geary job on Helmet Head, but then thought, no need. Lets just give Bont a taste of what he's coming to next year.

A couple of interesting stats regarding our sub.
Round 1 against Freo we scored 5 goals to 0 after sub came on and round 2 versus Bulldogs we scored 3 goals to 0 after sub introduced.
