He should. He holds that Legend status and has studied the script long enough. 🙂

Basically brought down a President. Been downhill ever since. 20 years online is still a great effort.
It’s always been a cesspool of nonsense and garbage … plus some great opinion, insight and impassioned debate.

Still is IMO, though we don’t get the traffic we once did. We might have to bring back some of the old trolls to restore it to its former glory.
I for one, would be most fascinated to know what it was once like here. First, there might be a bit of rose coloured hindsight glasses going on, but that aside, even I can tell, this once was a big and original and innovative site.

I can’t help wondering about all the hundreds of great posters who don’t bother with it anymore.

As for Ross, I am sure he appreciated all the great comments that were made about him over the last few years, (particularly last year) and wants to return the love.

I still think there are some good posters and posts here. Some of us have good and bad days, and some of us are very consistent, for better or worse.

My point is not in judgement but merely observation.
There is lots of vitriol shared in many communities. This one is no different.
Whether we have 100000 or 10 active members, there is clearly a vision of purpose for this platform. Spreading hate speech and malice are denied registration, so they don't enter but like the ink in Mrs Marshs chalk, it does get in.

Ha! See. Nothing has changed and the place is still a similar shambles after a defeat. Wish we still had that volume of traffic though.

Yeah. There's lots of noise in here, thankfully I don't pick up on various frequencies.
I don't need moderators or marketeers.
There is nothing here worth selling but I'm sure if someone wants to make it a commercial entity, there will be buyers, if the circus is entertaining enough or if life outside becomes even more mundane.
Saints eating Saints would bring 100000's of spectators and the clickbaiters will make it about them.

I like to catch the posts early before the rot sets in.

Hey asiu

I've been 'about' forever, always checking in regularly and periodically but not posting often for the same reasons that alot of members dropped off - infighting, toxicity etc - it wasn't much fun and got to be too much for alot of people who didn't need more negativity than they already see in regular life.

I believe being a footy fan and the discourse that comes with it - should be fun (for the most part) and not distressing.

What else would you like to know exactly? I am just getting my head around the back-end configuration and infrastructure of the site so I may not have all the answers you seek just yet.

After reading some of the comments on this thread , I thought I'd check my history, I joined in 2006 , wow how time flies ! And I probably followed it about a year before joining .
The main difference I see nowadays is less player discussion.
Back during RtBs first stint if we won a match there would be the usual match day thread etc... but there be lots of threads regarding many of the players games, what they did or didn't do , what more we'd like to see from them , more praise than bagging but occasionally it would go overboard .
Nowadays taking last week for example there was only five threads on players , Max , Sincs , Crouchy , Nas and Howie .
And only one of them went to a second page .
Maybe like so much in life these days no one can be bothered to give an opinion as someone is poised , waiting to be offended in some way .

there it is again

enough !!

it's not correct ... IMO

it's the mantra ... the Biggus Stickus mantra that Simon took over with

create the 'problem'
then provide us the answer

FACT : this place has been great since Simon f***ed off

even with our ONE MOD ,
(who has better things to do than waste his time with A COUPLE of whinging pm 'ers)

the punters (in the main) have kept things civil
and have called (peer group pressure) a spade a shovel when it was needed

we are here for the theatre
with decency
... not being told how to think or what we can talk about

ie ... the 'control paradigm' does not work

thats the true reason people left

idiotic rules + idiotic power tripping via those rules
and the rest with no balls when it got a tad hot in the kitchen occasionally weren't any good to anyone anyway

let that lot of losers whinge about their hurt feelings somewhere else

fair faux f****** conjob

And I go trigger those angry ants 🐜

But in general it must be Social Media surely, that killed it

Ive been around since the old Saints chat site
I need a life..
The site was fierce but fun …some great posters ..some no longer here …
Miss the Barks …summed up the GT days best…

*******
You mean the machiavelian maestro, the svengali snakeoil salesman who F***** our list with amatuerish and incompetent management, the one who set the club back three years with poor recruiting, drafting, no rookies etc..., the same guy who hired and fired fitness staff on an annual basis which probably contributed tiowards our terrible run with injuries for FIVE YEARS

Is this the ***** you're talking about?

Poor recruiting is the number ONE reason why things are not going gangbusters right now. and you want the buffoon responsible for this mess reinstated

Back in the day this was one of the only places to talk about the saints.

There was also a mIRC chat group that was quite active, and I can recall meeting quite a few forum members in real life back then too.

It was a lot more difficult to have group chats, but now I find I'm in lots of different footy chats.

I also don't recognize many of the users on here at all now.

I've never heard of mIRC, so I checked on Wiki. Peaked in 2003-2005. Obviously designed to project the GT Saints into the future.
