Fitness staff control injuries

The fittest guys sometimes get injured, the most unfit sometimes don’t.
When you train any muscle group to it extremes- injury may happen.

Fitness staff prepare athletes for games.

Rehab guys manage injuries
You went to training before Walsh left I assume. I spent the first two weeks observing. Walsh was running the rehab sessions. No doubt about it.

Our midfield was just smashed.
Literally every one of their midfielders had 25+ disposals
Moore -31
Newcombe -31
Day - 30
Nash -27
Impey 26
Worpel 24

Our midfield
Steele -14
Ross -16
Byrnes - 17
Gresh -15
Sinclair -18
Wood 18

Basically we just don't get enough ball.

Gotta look little deeper than overal numbers it’s like free kicks…often end up even at end of the game ….but those numbers don’t tell you that 1 side got 6 inside fwd 50 abs the other got their “evener uppers” in the back half with 5 mins to go when the game is over…

It appears clearances are useless when they result in turnovers. Sicily loves a good St.Kilda clearance as much as he loves an inside 50.

The key here is the quality of the ball and where it went. The vast majority of our clearances were blind kicks resulting in turnovers, while Hawthorn extracted by hand, drawing players and giving the easy one over the top, utilizing the spread.

Interestingly, St Kilda's 4 centre clearances that went out the attacking end of the square, resulted in St Kilda scores.

The problem is Gresham’s ego, he actually really, really rates himself!!

Well tickle me pink.

He’s a dud and a half.
Howard is not definitely not an AFL level fullback. Atm, he’s barely an AFL level defender - period.

Problem being, who is there to replace him? We’re stuck with him until we get a quality tall.
Someone with a set just needs to make a call on players.
I’d rather that and be crap (even worse) for a few years than gift players season after season. Howard was ok in the Covid year, seemingly more mobile too. Now he can’t get out of his own way, can’t keep up with opposition forwards and if he does, is comfortably outmuscled a lot of the time. What does he actually bring to the table?

In my view, height, nothing more.

Our opponents have clearly identified that if you back in your forwards and isolate him, then the forwards will win the one-on-one 9 out of 10 times. For the most part, Howard will spend more time berating his teammates than marking his opponent while they take a set shot.

Howard is a liability in his current role and the club needs to trade for a quality backman, as Wilkie is not a fullback and Battle is an okay 2nd or 3rd tall, but not a fullback.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.
