Put simply

We don’t - it’s only reactive guessing

Bit like in 2016 when the media morons and stupid fans wanted the introverted Cotchin replaced by Extroverted J Reiwoldt

To me great Captains
1/Lead by example with their actions
2/ Communicate standards

Perception
Robert Harvey is softly spoken and not a leader
Fact
He is the most demanding of our assistant coaches

Undoubtedly Cam Wilkie should be captain in 2024, Steele is simply not up to it.

What isn’t Steele up to?

That’s such an ignorant comment

Plays a poor game - is responsible for the loss and is a poor captain

What about the week before?

I’d like to know what makes Cal Wilkie a better candidate for captain? Serious question?

He’s a good player

Is that it?!

1) what a captain does that’s so important?

2) what is it Steele doesn’t do?

It is the MOST OVERRATED thing in footy

Even more so than the coach!
Is that you Grant ?
Luke Hodge …Selwood….overrated captains..
Ok

No, pretty sure you have the mantle of the biggest f***wit on this forum, perhaps even the whole AFL content on the internet.
You are on a constant match day thread loop, like a dementia sufferer.......Umpires are cheating, it's a conspiracy, Byrnes is s***... repeat, week after week, year after year, decade after decade (though the Byrnes bagging is of course only since the kid started playing).
Yep, pretty sure you are the biggest f***wit I have encountered on any platform.

Again no mention of attitude or laziness or willingness to perform. Or character.

Simply observing game play.
Nobody mentioned attitude or laziness, how is that obscure reference relevant?
I merely pointed out your hypocritical behavior in telling formumites they were not supporters for questioning Steele's captaincy, when you constantly bag Byrnes week after week.

When you denied bagging Byrnes, I copied and pasted a handful of the multiple dozens of posts where you call him s***, the worst player in the AFL etc. Really classy (read pathetic) way to support a young guy busting his gut trying to make his way in the AFL. Don't forget you bag Paton, Caminitti and Higgens too.

Perhaps you could write the Curly rules for us all to follow:
List the players who cannot be questioned such as Steele, but list the young guys in the infancy of their careers that you can bag like Byrnes and Camanitti.

By the way grub you want to watch calling people retards
You are correct and I apologize, I apologize to anyone who is retarded and or knows someone who is retarded as comparing them to you is a massive insult to anyone with a disability.

You would have to significantly improve your IQ, literacy and footy knowledge to qualify as a retard.

You are my favorite poster on this site Curly.
The reason is 99% of the posters on this site like myself are mug supporters who played the game as a young guy, are involved at some level now, love watching the Saints and are life long supporters. We have opinions but do not think we have any intimate knowledge about the strategies of the game at a professional level or have any real insight.

You on the other hand think you are knowledgeable on the game and have real insight and intimate knowledge of the AFL.
I just find that hilarious that the dumbest, most ignorant poster on the site thinks he has expertise and insight.
Makes me chuckle just writing this post.

Selwood and Hodge are both wankers

Good players - no doubt

If they were or weren’t Captains it’d made no difference to anything

Lenny Hayes wasn’t captain- would have been awesome - does it matter

I’ve never once thought about who was captain- why would I

It’s merely a symbolic position - it actually means FA

Stick with what you know Curly:

- spend two decades on Saintsational spamming every match day thread with the same content accusing the umpires of blatant cheating.

- bagging the crap out of young Saints players trying to make their way in the game.

Calling Byrnes s***, a liability, the worst player in the AFL, f*** him off right now etc, etc, etc

What a top bloke 👍
Bagging the crap out of a kid out there having a crack for the saints.

At least you now admit you bag players, with the only argument now the frequency.

What sort of sad sack of s*** bags young saints players who are out there having a crack?

Every match day thread you bag players with particular denigration of young Ryan Byrnes.

Calling the kid the worst player in the AFL, s***, f*** him off etc, etc, etc.

Disgusting!

I hope you realize constantly criticizing this young kid will not make you feel better about the failure and lack of achievement in your own life.

Perhaps in this week’s match day thread you could turn your negativity around by commenting on some of young Byrnes’ good points, like his hard running and work rate and do away with the denigration and character assassination.

from what I've seen of Wilks behind a microphone , i'm impressed he comes across as a good communicator and he certainly proves himself elite in the arena.

Capt material in my books.

How is the captaincy going to become vacant. There is bound to be tears if it does, even through resignation.
