Let's not gets distracted by what they could have been, let's be real, they are all well established AFL footballers, 2 of them are first round picks.
Those three gone frees up a lot of salary cap. That's possibly the big opportunity benefit. Also frees up two spots in the middle and makes room for AC Hammer.

Long time since any were matchwinners. All now slowed down/hampered by medical issues. None are worth terribly much.
Look at last night's game and the small high forwards trotting their stuff, make the boys mentioned above seem a bit pedestrian. Even that horror from the Pies that ducks and dives looked a bit dangerous.

The final practical test is coming. A good coach will get us into the 8 from here by winning 2. Its ok to prepare the escape clause by repeating the side isn't good enough to be higher than 6th, but with 3 matches to go sitting 7th, % over 100, Richmond in flux, Geelong relying on Cameron and Stewart and BNE pretty sure they are going to be playing Melbourne before the start of final round and going at half pace in R24, if Ross cannot get us to stay in, he is a flop. I think he can get us over line, the alternative is too boring to contemplate. We have a gun defence, great running wingmen, good onballers and a terrific key forward to go with a crap centre bounce set up. The x factor is how much Ratts willing Ross to fail persuades the fates.
You were doing well ….then you trot out that nonsense
Anyhoo suspect Ross doesn’t care tbh
He’ll be there start next preseason
You’d better buckle up …3 years to go !

I personally think Gresham, Billings and Clark probably won’t be there next season. I think the big name is Membrey. I can’t see it being Marshall or Steele.

I also think what happened at the beginning of the year was the height of arrogance and a disgrace. He may have lost some of the players.

Pathetic behaviour!
If our players are upset by “what happened at the start of year” 2 weeks out from finals (after we’ve had a better year than last already) I suspect they need to be moved on

I for one hope Ross has lost Gresham and Clark. They will make much better depth at a better club and we can cut our losses.

Id be happy for Dow to cover Gresham's loss and Flanders can cover Clark and run passed him.

Flanders (if we landed him) massive upgrade on Clark

I think if we really want Flanders, we could get him, pick 5 and Ned Moyle.

Rowan Marshall Seb and Crouch are not good onballers? Ok.

I also suspect Ross doesn't care. Its just another job. He's an ok pragmatic technician.

And to watch the demeanor change from his date of appointment to now suggests he is not going to last 4 years.
We might win a flag in year 3 with all the young talent in the pipeline, then he can retire fulfilled. I don't think he has 4 in him, just seems exhausted now, even though the group is so coachable.
Going through well over a decade of post game press conferences might be akin to getting progressive shell shock from a constant bombardment of dross. He's done well to keep fronting.

I'm watching the Sydney/Gold Coast game. Flanders would be handy, in fact more than handy. Another pre-season for Owens, Phillipou and Windhager, therefore more time in the middle next year. Hotton looks a likely type
(and he's already big), add Dow and Flanders and suddenly our midfield could get a whole lot better.

And the right age profile…

Still hoping for an answer to my question but I guess it's my bad for quoting.

Who's the popular player being given the lemon & sarse?

Maybe we need a good clean out 🧹
I'm a bit sick of 5 year plans. The Saints have an art form of being really s*** house every 5 years. About time they took a leaf out of George Costanza. Think about something and do the opposite.

I think they have already tried that by sacking Ratts i.e. doing what’s uncomfortable.

Depends on who you lose

I’ve already named the players that will leave

My theory

You never get better by losing talent

And trading good players for speculative picks is a gamble, which rarely pays off!

Is Ross Lyon now an expert in talent identification or is that Gubby and SOS's job?

Player development is part of the art of coaching isn't it? Some of our guys just haven't had it in the past.

Last time Ross was involved in culling players from our footy club we threw out a guy who was part of the fabric. Goose McGuire should have been treated better by St Kilda. Great clubman who got dumped at a relatively young age

What a crock of sh!t! We are always going to lose players. It's apparent we are not going anywhere with the list we've got. We need to be creative to improve the list.

Who is the unpopular delisting you've claimed? And I know you've jumped on someone else's claim.

Goose

X man

Bally

From the 2001 draft

We had 6 picks inside the top 50 in that draft
2-Ball
5-Clarke
13-Dal Santo
21-Maguire
37-Montagna
49-Houlihan

Plus Rookie picks
2-Josh Dickey’s
18-Ben Schwarze

In 2009
At 25/26 yo
We delisted 3 of them

Brought in with those picks we got from those players
Jesse Smith - 0 games
Will Johnson - 2 games
And of course we got zero for Ball, letting him walk to the draft
Where Collingwood got a premiership player (against us) who finished top 5 in their B&F for pick 30

Ball and Goose were delisted, X was traded.

Goose played 71 games over 6 years, Brisbane were officially s*** and did nothing but bottom out for draft picks.

Ball believed he was destined to be a premiership player. He got one. 83 more games.

X was cooked.

Whats your point? You have a good memory?

I have no interest being itk

Never have done, never will

I attack Tony?

That’s a strong claim?!

I just don’t believe everything the club does is correct- which is what Tony suggests.

I have my own opinion- not just agree with the club at every turn

Who are you talking to & what's that got to do with a Mass Exodus in 2023.

You're special B.M., but I suspect you know that. Keep going, keep asking for quotes without giving any yourself OR acknowledging them.

P.S., Fvck Luke Ball, he was signed with Collingwood before the finals in 2009 even began.
