Liam Stocker- Hopefully stays
Nick Coffield- Hopefully stays

5 gone, 3 question marks 6 hopefully stay.

2021 side assuming all leave and we recruit Henry who has nominated us.

Paton, Wilkie, Howard
Sinclair, Battle, Milera
Henry, Steele, Wood
Owens, Sharman, Hill
Butler. King, Cammaniti

Marshall
Crouch
Windhager

Phillipou, Higgins, Hayes, Ross
Sub: Hotton

Rest: Cordy, Membrey, Allison, Keeler, Mclennon, Heath.

--‐--------

Side looks a lot better if all the hopefully stays do. (Which would still leave us room to make 7 other changes to the list)

Coffield, Wilkie, Howard
Sinclair, Battle, Milera
Henry, Steele, Wood
Owens, Sharman, Hill
Butler. King, Gresham

Marshall
Crouch
Windhager

Phillipou, Higgins, Stocker, Clark/Jones
Sub: Byrnes

Needs:
1. Clearance midfielder with pace
2. Key forward to support King (might already be on the list)
3. Any elite ball users who can run

Other AFL uncontracted players of interest

Paddy Dow- 23 year old clearance mid
Tom Fullarton- 24 yo 200cm key forward
Jack Silvagni- 25 yo 194cm forward (membrey replacement)
Jacob Koschitzke- 23yo 196cm forward
Ben Mckay- 26yo 201cm key defender

Hopefully we take 2 of these in addition to hitting the draft.

Out of that out of contract list, I'd keep:

Peris
Gresham
Byrnes
Adams
Clark
Stocker
Coffield

Worth looking at this to.supplement the list and keep in mind we have 1 pick currently in the top 20. (Rough cut of for recruiting an ~100 game player

https://www.draftguru.com.au/analysis/p ... comparison

And 2 (almost 3) in the top 50 (the cut off for recruiting a player who averages over 50 career games.

So when we talk about cleaning blokes out- we're currently positioned to replace 3 via the draft.

that's a fairly average list to start with, Coffield and Stocker probably the only 2 I'd keep, a shame Coff is injury riddled.

I forgot Billings.

Would keep him unless you can get a top 20 pick for him

It’s not just who we want to keep

Many players will ask for a trade

Billings, Gresham, Paton, Clark, Bytel, Coffield

All want out from what I understand

And a few will be delisted - expect 10+ changes

I will be glad to see Clarke gone. He just runs around in circles, his kicking which was meant to be elite clearly isn't and doesn't get it enough. Let him go to Norda Melbourne.

Billings contracted so we set the price. Personally pick in top 25 is acceptable if he wants out and someone pays.

Gresham uncontracted hope we convince him to stay.

Paton contracted so same deal as Billings, probably same price.

Clark uncontracted so hope we can convince him to stay. Ideally get a second round pick at least if he goes.

Bytel gone

Coffield uncontracted so hope we can convince him to stay. Ideally get a second round pick at least if he goes.

My worst case scenario is they all leave. If that happens I hope we end up with picks under 40 for them all with a few under 25.

I think Hunter Clark might definitely be going. I noticed he was very emotional coming off the ground, in tears. Maybe realizing this was his final game with this team.

I think 8-10 changes is the optimum amount. More than 10 and you are losing too much of your team IP .

I would nominate in no particular order as going

Campbell
Clark
Highmore
Gresham
Connolly

That’s 5
And then 3 of those who have never played seniors (don’t have the knowledge of their input)

That’s 8
One of Hayes or McKenzie

That’s 9

Then a ? On Membrey. Just hope he is ok

A slight ITK here - Billings is very much NOT interested in being at the Saints in 2024.

Has Highmore dropped off a cliff or no in because Wilkes do that role? Didn't see any VFL, so on exposed history Highmore's the type that Sydney would turn into an elite interceptor. Or not if he's off the cliff?

If I was Billings I’d tell Lyon to Fk off

A first year player who couldn’t get a kick playing in front of him

Disgraceful

He will flourish elsewhere, as will Clark, Gresham, Coffield, Paton

BTW
We don’t set the price if the player wants out, we’ll take what we can get.
Billings - pick in the 50s - originally pick 3
Clark - pick in the 30s - originally pick 7
Gresham - pick in the late 30’s - originally pick 15
Paton - pick in the 50s - originally pick 46
Coffield- pick in the 40s - originally pick 8

Bytel - originally pick 38 gone
Highmore- originally pick 45 gone
Campbell - gone
Connolly- gone
Adams - Gone

Probably 1 or 2 others

We will take in 6 from the draft
Trade in 3 or 4
And elevate Caminiti, Heath

Losing pick 7 and 8 in one shot would just be the final tale of a couple of decades of disastrous list management.

GWS have enjoyed high Draft Picks, many of those players moving to other Clubs in exchange for further high Draft Picks.

Hence the side GWS put on the park.

This is the competition.

St Kilda by contrast have lost the likes of McCartin (to Sydney), Dunstan (to Melbourne), Acres (to Carlton) and a contributor to this site informs that all of Gresham (for Pick 50), Clark (for Pick 100), Billings (for Pick 150) and Coffield (for Pick 200) are out of the door because they do not enjoy playing at St Kilda (along with every other player we are informed is leaving because they do not enjoy the environment at St Kilda, with a lousy administration and lousy Coaches including Lyon, Hayes, Enright, Harvey, Goddard et al.)

Noting this very same contributor informs that all of those players plus every other player on the St Kilda List are duds, with a capital "D".

So St Kilda can not only not retain their top Draft Picks, they get nothing in return.

From yesterday we had Membrey as a late out plus Billings, Howard (who wants out, giving St Kilda Draft Pick 250 in exchange) and Coffield were not selected, some injured players looking on (IF they went to the game).

So who do we have left and who wants to play at St Kilda?

Coffield - no good and wants to leave anyway
Jones - Injury prone and ageing Keep
Gresham - no good and wants to leave anyway
Crouch - Does not rate a mention, perhaps wants to return to Adelaide
Ross - Retain. Was thrashed around the park yesterday and can not kick over a jam jar, especially when within 30 metres of goal and a chance to give real impetus to the side.
Wanganeen-Milera - Wants to go back to Adelaide. Why would you stay at St Kilda as the last man standing?
Hill - Appears the one player who appreciates playing under Lyon. Can fill all 22 positions in 2024.
Steele - Variable form would suggest he wants out
Owens - Will lose interest playing for a bottom side so will seek a transfer (for Draft Pick 1,000)
Clark - no good, is soft and does not have an AFL body. Wants out anyway
King - wants to join his brother (in exchange for Draft Pick 2,000)
Byrnes - No good. Keep
Stocker - No good. Keep
Billings - no good and wants to leave anyway.
Butler - another who can not kick over a jam jar plus can not hold a mark. Keep
Windhager - See Owens
Hayes - SANFL standard
Marshall - Obviously too good to stay at St Kilda
Howard - no good and wants to leave anyway
Cordy - a dud Keep
Higgins - Fancy leaving Richmond!!!
Bytel - Days are done No good Gone
Phillipou - See Wanganeen-Milera
Battle - Played well yesterday so too good to remain at St Kilda
Adams - Untried dud De-list
Membrey - Retired
Webster - An experienced player from the good old days. Can not match him up on anyone with class. Keep
Allison - See Adams
Van Es - See Adams
Wood - 30 year old from North Melbourne. Says it all
Paton - No good and wants to leave anyway because his good mates all want to leave
Highmore - No good Going back to Adelaide
Sinclair - See Marshall
Mc Kenzie - Injured but wants to leave anyway
Connolly - Class Retain
Campbell - Class. Retain for Sandringham
Hotton - See Adams
Keeler - See Adams
McLennan - See Adams
Heath - See Adams
Sharman - Wants to return to being an accountant in Adelaide
Wilkie - See Sharman
Peris - Who?
Caminiti - Wants to return to Carlton.

And, of course, no players wish to come to St Kilda

Which brings us to Sr Kilda - a basket case to be re-located to Tasmania with a Tasmanian as Coach, not only propped up by the AFL but propping up the competition as time in memorial cellar dwellers.

You heard it here first.

Internet experts, hey?

And a few will be delisted - expect 10+ changes
Did any of these guys push themselves as hard as Owens, Windy & Pou in the preseason?

Fair enough some of these guys were coming off injuries, but we all know Ross plays his favourites, and Ross likes his Uber fit players.

It’s an interesting question.

Coffield has reportedly been a training beast pre-injury on both occasions over the last 2 years.
Clark and Billings application have been routinely questioned on this forum for sometime
I always had the impression that Paton and Bytel worked hard enough
Gresh I have no idea

Looks like Billings is the player being forced out by Lyon as mentioned by Tony74.

Lyon challenged Billings during preseason on his training standards. Compared him to Fyfe.

Fyfe does extra training sessions so why can’t you.

Lyon also questioned and challenged Ro but Ro stepped up and had a big season.

Coincidently Hunter's kicking brought tears to my eyes as well.

Hope he just toughens up and practices kicking chest height to a Saint Kilda crested jumper for 6 months.

He has really let his forwards down recently and missed straight forward shots for goal. Should cry.

If he goes I doubt his contributions will be seriously missed. Injuries seem to have cruelled him, very unfortunate.

Gresham and Crouch too. They are taking us nowhere. Same same Higgins.
