Do you think he’ll be sub?

With Butler out, he's the best alternative. Perhaps the only one. I hope he tears it up. Unlimited potential.

It seems like a loser strategy to have a crumbing forward pocket on debut come on after half time.

I could see him start and be subbed out if he struggles but on balance… I’d have thought perhaps Phillipou on form has struggled to maintain his spot. Otherwise Windy and Byrnes are the most like for like. Perhaps Windy is having his time managed?

I think Windy is the sub on, with his position and timing for the sub depending on game balance. Either into the middle or behind the ball if one of their small forwards get off the leash.

You'd expect he'd be on reduced minutes given he didnt play the preseason matches.

Well done to the kid.

Doesn't sound like many saw that coming except the selectors.

Good luck to the kid.

Highlights our lack of small forwards though, having traded out Gresham , we put all our eggs in the Butler basket. Our list managers missed a trick not bringing in a ready made small forward to cover Gresh. Great opportunity for Collard to fast track his career if he can make an impact and hold down his spot in coming weeks.

Weeellllllll .....

Maybe not - maybe Ruby meant it is interesting in deed as opposed to interesting in the hypothetical.

We have two mature specialist small forward on the list in Higgins and Butler.

That imo is plenty.

Neither actually play as a crumbing small.

Higgins is - lead up and play for free kicks.
Butler is being played as a pressure forward with the odd opportunistic 'over the back'.

Collard is a high flying, mosquito crumber. This is the true small forward we need.

Based upon what Membrey said when he announced Collard's selection his role when he takes the field FOR THIS GAME will be very much the Butler role.

Playing three talls, and Hii\ggins who basically plays more like a small marking forward, we lack forward pressure up forward. Moreso if Phillipou is also forward.
