Fair point but when I say ruckman I should have said someone who can play forward and ruck what would you do if Row goes down who do we play in ruck not remembering that they would have to ruck for most of the game so we cant put in a part timer in there If not Campbell who!!

I remember in a game when Ratts was coach, he swung Battle into the ruck and had an immediate impact. I don't think Owen is a second ruck or a midfielder, and I don't know what his best position is. Roma is good around the ground, but doesn't hit his midfielders on the chest very often in his tap work. I would really go after a good ruck if the opportunity comes up.

Tom Campbell is a great club man, who is providing valuable mentoring and coaching to our developing ruckmen. Two roles, VFL player and assistant coach, for the price of one.

Unfortunately, it is obvious the coaches see him only as an, "In case of emergency break glass" type, and maybe not even then.

Another problem seems to be that TC is less mobile than the aforementioned Stonehenge monument.

Campbell will only play if Marshall does not

We would be down a rotation and a runner. And be exposed.

How important is a hit out?

We need a forward/Ruckman desperately.

Hayes is that person if he can stay fit, or at least he is the closest to the prototype of what our structure needs.

Big bodied, strong overhead, mobile and agile below the knees and at ground level, can kick goals and play in the ruck.

Will keep Caminiti and Sharman out of the side when he gets in and if he stays fit.

Hopefully the recruiting guys have another one on their shopping list.

Why we are not grooming Keeler for that role is beyond me?

It’s a no brainer

Hayes to do that role until Keeler is physically up to it

I see the future forwards

King 202 mobile and strong overhead
Caminiti Power Forward
Keeler Ruck forward
And three smalls
Higgins, Collard, Henry/Garcia rotating through mid
Bench Rotation Hybrid Phillipou and Owen rotating through mid

I think that's the coaches plan isn't it? But Keeler is a good 2 or 3 seasons away from being AFL ready.

I understand that it takes time for young ruckmen to develop , but we seem to have a never ending list of young rucks who after years never develop !

Going to the mid season draft is not an option as we have a full list, would need a retirement or LTI knowing our luck with injuries the latter is a real possibility
