I feel we play better when he is in the team.

He's a fill in only. He's back up.

The coaches either back Dougal and support him, coach him, help him or ...hand in their resignation

While Dougal is on the list he is the best option. I know he makes a few mistakes, but so does everyone.

If we decide to offload Dougal at the end of the year, then fair enough, but we'd be crazy to devalue him before he's on the trade table

Zaine is reliable. Zaine is great for the club and for the VFL team, but he's not going to be part of our next push up the ladder

Has there ever been a player with a more awkward kicking style?

He is like a stapler

Not sure of your age but look up James Manson on you tube if you don't know i am talking about. Was very accurate though

Feels like I'm a broken record but Wilkie plays AA standard with Howard in the team, and a fringe player with Cordy.

Wilkie plays at a high standard regardless

He’s a good player

Whether it’s Howard, Cordy or whoever play deep on the biggest forward - Wilkie rarely gets beaten on the 2

I remember when Wilkie had to be switched onto Harry McKay because he was giving Howard a bath and whilst giving up 13cm and 10+ kg Wilkie kept him goalless

Adds an offensive side to his game when Howard is there and he can trust him to defend. When Cordy is FB then he needs to play more defensively.

Might just be chemistry but the difference at the start of this year was very visible.

Seems a smart player.
We seem a bit light on for footy smarts.
Hope he can mentor Dougal.

I dont rate Cordy on stats or face value...yet, mystically, when he is in the game somehow others play better, we win more than we lose and the defense seems stronger, more rebounding...I have looked at several replays and it isnt just the whiskey...he really does add something somehow.

Cordy is decent, a bit underrated. Might need to bring him in to the defence and move Howard or Battle forward.

Go look at the final v GWS

Cordy was a weak link in defence - absent Howard who was underdone in his recovery from injury

A back up player in case of injury to Howard or Wilkie and pending the development of our younger potential key defenders - and how smooth is Keeler?

I really like cordy he is smart and reads the play well but unlike Dougal, Battle, Bonnar he does NOT turn the ball over constantly he is very safe with the ball and makes good decisions.
I don't really care about his stats as a Backman he has a job and he does it very well he covers well for the other defenders and as a team we play better when he is in the team especially Dougal.

This year, Howard has not been beaten in a 1v1 defensive contest.

Cordy has a 20% loss rate, which is good but not 'premiership full back' good.

Interestingly Howard has not had a handball this year.

Turnovers in favour of Cordy, disposal efficiency in favour of Howard.

We as a team must give up at least 1-2 goals a game with turnovers well with our close games we would have won at least 2-3 games more without the turnovers that resulted in goals.
I would have thought that the club would look at this stat as being very important especially when it can cost you games, and play the players with the least amount of turnovers if form warranted it which would take more pressure off the forwards to kick more goals.

Turnovers (per game average) worst to best. Only showing 20. Neither Cordy nor Howard on the list.

Dougal's HB eff% is zip, but he would be 100% on pretending to handball stat after a mark.

He may not have lost a contest

But his opponent has lost him plenty of times and got an uncontested possession

I think the more telling stat is the pressure acts - half of his peers.
