Reflecting on ex-Saints
Just thought I'd have a little look at some of the ex-saints that have been running around recently and the trades we got for them...
Trent Knobel: He left for nothing and his career nose dived accordingly. His form with us probably better than any of our current ruckman to date. Pbly would have been better for both parties if he stayed.
Cain Ackland: Lol, bullet dodged. 2005 was his best year by a long long way and he doesn't look like ever reaching those heights again.
Matty Lappin: traded to us for the picks that got us Troy Schwarze and James Begley. That's a pretty big loss TBH. Granted TS40 was certainly serviceable and Begley's last 5 games with us were the best of his career and he looked a real player in the making before he left. Too bad James got injured again at the crows, one of those guys that had no chances left but may well have been good enough. I think it was worth the punt... hard to see him fitting into our team although he was quite good.
Shane Wakelin: Delisting him was quite possibly the biggest DUD of a move ever made. He would have been such a handy back up player for iver the last 2-3 years and the kids would have gotten so much out of having him to mentor them in the 2s. Certainly would have allowed Maxy to play as 2nd defender which is a role thats he's more suited to.
Heath Black: He played better for us than what he's doing for Freo. For us, he was playing tough, match winning footy. For Freo he plays soft, hang around the packs getting easy kicks, oooohing and aaaahing footy. Personally I think this year from Fiora has been better than any of Heath's Freo years. If Fiora can maintain his current form and just kick a few more goals he'd easily be a much better player.
Matty Carr: Has had a good, solid career. Not spectacular but still would have been a nice player to have hung onto. Craig Callaghan (who we got for him) was an absolute gun... his first year for us was fantastic but nobody recovers from 2 knee recos.
Brent Guerra: Another player who has improved stats wise but really doesn't influence games at all. 2004 was by far his best year.
Darryl Wakelin: The trade with Hamil is fairly even IMO. The points have to go to Darryl because he's played more and is a solid player in his own right but I personally believe that Aarons 2004 was much better than any of DWs years and I believe that Aaron has has given much more to this club off-field than ppl recognise.
Joel Smith: No big lss in the end. A decent player in his own right but he never quite got to the heights his early form suggested... pbly wouldn't have made our team in the 2004-6 era so IMO his leaving was for the best.
Spida: We got good picks for him and we wasted them. He may have been a cancer but one wonders what may have happened in 2004 if his name was in ahead of Knobel.

I guess one never likes to see players who leave kick on.
I always had a soft spot for players that were driven out like Matty Lappin.
But there are others that still make you angry.
I was so so pleased that the Swans didn't win in 96.
The sight of Plugger with a traitorous Premiership would have been too much to take.
I am still seething about that turd Hall with a medallion, and the AFL Tribunal conspiracy that get him there.
And if that Spider piece of excrement ever won one I think my stomach would violently and repetitively discharge.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

None of these players I have particuarly missed at any point, except the Wakelin bros in the year after they left.
They left a huge hole in our backline in 2000.
Can anyone remember who they were traded for or if they were delisted?
Hey Skeptic, you forgot to mention the biggest traitor to ever wear a St.Kilda jumper, who's currently playing... and I won't mention his name because it's not worthy of being uttered in this forum.
Let's just say he looks like a shaved ape with really bad ink work on one of his shoulders

The Swines have run out of luck with injury, it seems. Though I hate the Hawks, I wouldn't mind so much if they won the flag while Spider (and Barry Hall) watch on.
I concur with the Wakelins and Skinny Lappin.

A little bit of context people.....
Shane wakelin was a risk pick up by the pies after we had delisted him. He was struggling with an achilles injury and had only ever showed something as a third forward.
There was good reseasons for trading/delisting all those at the time.
